My name is Peyton Recinos Peyton Recinos 5'4" | DS/L/OH Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy | 2028 CA ! I am currently an 8th grader playing for SG Elite 15 Roshambo as a Outside Hitter/Libero. I started playing club when I was 7 years old as a libero and fell in love with the game instantly. It was about three years ago when my dream came true and I transitioned to the outside hitter position. That was about the time when I really started becoming serious about wanting to play volleyball in college.

My favorite quote from Kobe Bryant is, “Hard work outweighs talent every time.” Despite being an undersized outside hitter, I knew I would need to increase my vertical, get faster, and stronger to be able to compete.

So that is what I did! My training consists of club practices, running hills, plyometrics, agility, basic volleyball fundamentals, and increasing my volleyball IQ.

I want to inspire others that anything can be possible if you put the work in. I may not have the height or ability to hit the 10 feet line, but being able to accurately place my shots, tooling the block, getting touches on the block, and having strong defense skills I feel makes me just as effective as other outside hitters. Also, being able to play two positions gives me the ability to change positions if needed.

Finally, my goal is to play volleyball in college and be a part of the USA Women’s National Team to compete in the Olympics for a gold medal one day.

Peyton Recinos is being highlighted for her fearless attitude towards defense and her willingness to sacrifice her body to make defensive plays by diving, digging, and sliding on the ground, going after balls. Coached by Yvette Ybarra and Maria Olilang, she understood the importance of making defensive plays to keep the ball off the ground and was willing to throw herself to the floor to save a point for her team.  She is proactive in reading the opponent’s attacks, anticipating where the ball will be hit, and positioning herself to make a play. When she saw an opportunity to make a dig or a pass, Recinos reacted quickly and decisively, often diving to reach the ball. While diving for the ball requires courage and commitment, it also requires skill and technique which she used to execute properly.

Standing at 5’4″ and with a graduation year of 2028, Peyton is currently a student at Thomas the Apostle School in Los Angeles, California. Peyton’s skills on the court are equally remarkable, excelling in defense, passing, and showcasing a keen court IQ. As she looks forward to the upcoming club season, Peyton will be representing SG Elite, where she’s poised to make a significant impact with her skillset and unwavering dedication to the sport.
