[player_tooltip player_id='472099' first='Haley' last='Smith'] isn't just your average athlete; she's a bona fide superstar. Between dominating on the club volleyball court for Rage 16-1, making waves in basketball, and gliding through the water as a swimmer at Liberty Ranch High School, her athleticism knows no bounds. Recently, Haley achieved a remarkable milestone: a full D1 scholarship offer to Fresno State University for her prowess on the basketball court.

But what's even more thrilling than discovering such an athletic giant is realizing there's another sister following closely in her footsteps. Enter Lacey, Haley's younger sibling and a rising star in her own right, currently making waves with Delta Valley 13-1's. Intrigued by their dynamic, I reached out to the Smith Sisters to uncover more about their journey. In her own words, Haley delves into the intricacies of their athletic voyage.

Lacey and I have always been super into sports and super competitive! Both our parents played D1 sports - my Dad played football at CAL and my Mom played basketball at CAL - so we were raised loving sports and always being active. Our older brother Cody plays D1 h football at Ball State University in Indiana! We have grown up always playing pepper together outside, and she always tagged along with me when I went to volleyball clinics and learned volleyball skills at a super young age. Anything we play, if it's board games or basketball or volleyball or tennis against each other, we are always trying to beat each other! It's always in good fun but we want bragging rights that night at the dinner table!

My little sis has come along to all my club volleyball tourneys and cheered me on until she started playing club herself and sometimes they overlap and she is at a different location. I was the starting OH on my high school varsity team as a freshman. She came to every single game and always was cheering me on. She was super excited my freshman year when we won the SVC League Championship! She was dancing around on the sideline and made posters our final league game to win the title and cheered us on the entire time. It was so awesome to have her there when my varsity team went undefeated 10-0 for the first time in school history! It brought us so close! She told all her friends at her elementary school about her older sister helping make school history with that!

Last year was her first year getting to play 12U for Delta Valley where I was playing up on the 16U team. It was so cool that a couple weekends our age groups were in the same location and we could watch each other play during our off times!! We both are 6 Rotation OH so it's fun to help each other after games with tips and tricks and stuff. Lacey is really good at always staying steady no matter how the game is going. She never gets nervous! We are both super tough and never let the team we are playing intimidate us. Before matches we both like to do karaoke and we both have to have certain color ribbons in our long hair! We love to dance and sing before games to get the nerves out and get pumped up!

Lacey is the champ when it comes to talking smack on the court! She has a LOT of sass! I'm a little more laidback and quiet on the court but we both have serious game faces!! Don't mess with the Smith Sisters :) Lacey always has a ton of confidence, but I seem to come through in high pressure situations with important points or wideouts. As she gets older she will get even better at coming through in the high stress moments with the big kill or huge block! It's so fun to talk about our big wins and losses with each get after we play. We try to help each other with what we can do better before the next tourney comes along! And we will both stand up for each other no matter what! Keep the drama away from us!! LOL!!

Lacey is only in seventh grade but we are excited to get to have one year of high school volleyball together when she is a freshman and I am a senior. She was super proud of me when I was named First Team All League as a sophomore and named Team Co-MVP! I can't wait for her to achieve even more as she gets older! I was SO PROUD of her Delta Valley 13s team when they went 9-0 at their first tourney this year in January and won it all at the Cali Kickoff Classic! 1ST Place was crazy good and she was so happy!
