<p>The George R. Brown Convention Center, in downtown Houston, was packed last weekend as it hosted one of the most anticipated tournaments in the club volleyball season for Texas players, the Lone Star Regionals.</p>

<p>With almost 600 teams entered to compete in the 12 divisions, the tournament offered another opportunity for clubs to qualify for the upcoming Girls Junior National Championship and attracted competitors from all over the Lone Star State.</p>

<p>Prep Dig was in attendance on Saturday, when we got to watch 12 of the 54 teams that competed in the 17 Bid division. We'll now use the week to highlight the ones that stood out with their play, starting with the setters.</p>

She was very precise and consistent, keeping the team in a good offensive rhythm during the day while also using all of the hitters as much as she could. Brisco was very good at setting against the flow and often had her pin hitters in 1v1 situations because of that. A tall and technical setter, she played a major role for them, orchestrating the team's offense with tremendous intelligence. Francis' touch on the ball was very precise and reliable and that gave her hitters a lot of confidence to swing. The setter always looked very calm on the court and made very good decisions with her distribution. Very skilled and intelligent, she potentialized the team's hitters by sharing the ball among them and moving them around when she had a chance to do it - she had great chemistry with her twin sister Abigail, who played as a middle blocker. Kelly was also very effective with her serving and added a lot on defense, playing with a lot of energy at the right back position. She only played the three backcourt rotations, but did a good job in terms of impacting the game with her game. A tall setter, she displayed great mobility to get to the ball and make plays. Despite her team's struggles, she did a very good job in terms of remaining consistent and provided them with some stability in the setter position. Garza was very mobile on the court and always accurate with her sets, which allowed her to thrive even when working with out-of-system passes.
