Post-season play has ended, and college camps, high school summer leagues, and tryouts for the next club season are all underway!

USAV Nationals and the AAU Championships highlighted the post-season slate for Washington players. Teams traveled to Las Vegas and Orlando, respectively, to compete against some of the nation's best and most tested teams. Players and teams battled it out one last time before turning the page on the 2024 club season.

Prep Dig Washington is taking a closer look at players by class and position who stood out in the post-season tournaments. Here are several 17U Outside Hitters that brought it at Nationals.

Grieser was impactful and efficient from both pins at the AAU Championships in Orlando. The 5'10" 2025 out of North Creek High School swung high and hard and racked up kills while posting a .280 hitting percentage. The rising senior must have made the right impression on college coaches in attendance, Grieser just announced her verbal commitment to Westminister University in Salt Lake City. The Griffins compete in the tough Division II Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC). Congratulations to Jocelyn and her family!

WVBA 17 Adidas made the trek to Orlando for the AUU Championships and finished with a solid 5-5 record playing in the Premier division. Nowak is a 2025 OH prospect with solid length, measuring in at 5'10". The rising senior from Glacier Peak let it rip from both pins and was also attacking out of the right back from behind the 10" line. Nowak brought a tough serve and physical blocking to the Sunshine State, displaying a skilled and gritty all-around game.

Holmer has worked on her game in every aspect, turning into a multi-faceted attacker on the pin and a terrific defender. She has a quiet, efficient platform and looked extremely comfortable passing in serve receive at USAV Nationals in Las Vegas. Holmer has a variety of shots in her bag on the outside and can make a play on a set that is difficult to handle. In Vegas, she was able to score with her left hand, a two-handed hard-angle push, and on a variety of off-speed chips, tips, and rolls. The Lynwood 2025 prospect will be a terrific pickup for a college program looking for a talented and well-trained player.

https://youtu.be/_-gNXrKnqGk?si=wmsX7gETP741csNI

The 2025 prospect from River Ridge had an excellent club season for PSVBA 17 Legacy, terminating with a whippy arm swing out of a fast-tempo PSVBA offense. Brushwood is an intelligent attacker, and her approach is varied depending on the in-game situation. She will cut it short and stay just a step or two off the net when it's a scramble, giving her setter a chance to still run up-tempo. Brushwood has the length and vertical to take a step or two and bang the ball hard off a block and out to score. When the offense is in system, she gets out wide and deep and attacks around and through the block with good vision.

Shurtleff is an OH during the school season for Selah High School and a good one. (Example: 22 kills in a match versus West Valley Yakima.) For CRU MAX at USAV Nationals, she handled the DS role and looked outstanding. She showed off her athleticism and strength, absorbing hard swings and breaking out some pretty dolphin dives to pick up shots that looked like they would drop for a kill. Shurtleff has shown she can excel as a pure defender and will offer a college program a versatile player with multiple position options.

https://youtu.be/9Ei8QJ0i2VM?si=2EI3tQPPlV-i_P5V
