Hot Hitters at the Freshman Showcase

<p>I had so much fun watching these freshmen going through drills and scrimmaging this past weekend and they were all amazing. There was a ton of talent at the Nebraska Freshman Showcase and it was so impressive watching these incoming freshmen perform. Bartholet is a fast-and-furious kind of hitter. She is very accurate with her swings and very efficient on the court. She has a high volleyball IQ and may have been the best I saw at the showcase. There is the potential for a very promising future for this athlete in her upcoming high school career.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='575217' first='Annelise' last='Clark']</h2>   <p>Clark is a 5'9" outside hitter from Elkhorn South High School. Clark was impressive because no matter what she was set she could make a play out of it. She is athletic, versatile, and very fast. She has a great platform and a high volleyball IQ. She was prepared for whatever came her way. She has good form and a hammer for an arm. She hits hard and can go through a block, over a block, around a block, and loves the cross-court shot. If the other team gets in her way she just hits them with the ball and watches the magic unfold. </p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='513647' first='Ell' last='Forney']</h2>   <p>Forney is a 5'6" outside hitter from Columbus Lakeview High School. Forney's athleticism was the first thing that impressed me. She is fast on her feet and hits the ball like a flyswatter on a fly. She moves around the court with ease and puts the ball down wherever she wants to do so. I enjoyed watching Callahan at the showcase. She has a huge vertical and a vicious swing. She was putting it down all over the court and was still quick enough to play really athletic and twitchy defense as well. She could get a kill then the very next play was her hitting the ground to defend and get it to her setter then take another swing. She is very versatile and never quits. She is an athlete who would be very hard to defend against with her hard-hitting, versatile shots.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='573209' first='Jordan' last='Frink']</h2>   <p>Frink is a 5'8" outside hitter from Skutt Catholic High School. Frink has great speed and a great platform. She has a lot of athletic ability that was on display at the showcase. I would play this athlete anywhere on the court and trust her to do good things for her team. Dostal was a sleeper for a bit on the court I was watching her on, but when she started going she was hard to stop. She is a great defensive player and I watched her dive several times to pop up the ball to her setter then get up and hit that same ball. She is so smart on the court and when they finally set her she got kill after kill. She knew just where to hit the ball and made split-second decisions that were the right ones most of the time. She knows what she is doing out there and will be an impressive player who continues to grow through her high school years.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='575228' first='Jillian' last='Fabrikant']</h2>   <p>Fabrikant is a 5'8" outside hitter from Millard West High School. Fabrikant looks good on defense or offense. She is super quick on her feet and has a great vertical. She puts up a strong block and digs the ball up as well. She is very athletic and could be a 6-rotation player in the making. She pounds the ball and has a quick hit so sometimes her opponents are not ready for what comes at them. She is a very smart athlete and uses her strengths well.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='575210' first='Keyana' last='Haggerty']</h2>   <p>Haggerty is a 5'7" outside hitter from Sidney High School in Iowa. Haggerty has great athleticism and control of the ball. She has amazing speed on the court, her platform is perfect, and her accuracy when hitting is impressive. She will break through a block or hit it off of a player at the back of the opposing court and make it look easy. I have some experience watching Sidney volleyball and Haggerty has the potential to become a pivotal point of her team's offense and defense.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='576522' first='Carley' last='Jorczak']</h2>   <p>Jorczak is a 5'10" outside hitter from Papillion LaVista South High School. Jorczak has already learned how to handle a good block in her way of a kill. She will power that ball through and get a kill. She is very determined and it shows in her desire to score and her focus on the court. </p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Berlin LaMotte-Protic</h2>   <p>LaMotte-Protic is a 5'8" outside hitter from Skutt Catholic High School. LaMotte-Protic is a beast. She has a good vertical and when she connects with the ball it is coming down hard right where she wants it to. She is a smart player and knows what her opponents are doing across the net and uses that information to best position herself to hit. She has good defensive skills as well and will work with the ball in out-of-system situations well. It will be great to watch this player keep developing through her high school years.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='730559' first='Nora' last='Morgan']</h2>   <p>Morgan is a 5'9" outside hitter from Elkhorn North High School. Morgan is a serious player and can dig it up off the floor and put it back into play for a rally. She has great speed, a great platform, and amazing court awareness. She also has amazing offensive awareness and aims her shots perfectly for a kill. She will go far in her upcoming high school career.</p>   <p></p>
