Top Ranked Nevada Players Showcase Their Skills at UA NEXT Invite-Only Camp

This elite camp selects only a chosen few to attend, and from that group, an even smaller number are selected to participate in the prestigious All-America Game in Orlando, FL.   Prepdig Nevada was granted exclusive access to the Las Vegas camp, providing a unique opportunity to observe top-ranked players from the state compete against other elite players from across the nation. Each participant there has worked diligently throughout the school and club season to earn their spot among the best. They also got the opportunity to perform in front of Under Armour directors and coaches, Prepdig scouts, college coaches and other media outlets. What I loved most was witnessing Vegas players I had seen in game settings showcase their versatility by playing in different positions and adapting to teammates with various styles of play.   This article will highlight the players selected from Nevada that showcased their elite talents during the camp. *Learn how you can increase your chances of being invited to the next camp at the bottom of this article.    Ayanna consistently excels at hitting from the outside, but I recently had the chance to see her focus on opposite reps. She demonstrated equally impressive hitting skills in this position, highlighting her versatility and adaptability in the front row. Her energy was high, and she actively cheered on her teammates when it was their turn to shine. When she goes up to block, it's almost always a shutdown. I wouldn't be surprised if the University of Pittsburgh utilizes Watson as an opposite hitter, given her elite hitting and blocking abilities. She can rack up numerous blocks against opposing outside hitters, as she proved against some of the nation's best at the camp.     Watching Julie in games is always a thrill, but witnessing her individual talents at the camp was truly captivating. She excelled in hitting drills, consistently putting the ball away with a powerful swing and quick wrist snap. In competitive games, she showcased impressive defensive skills, successfully digging challenging balls from top national hitters. Julie's energetic presence and strong communication with teammates stood out throughout the camp. While I usually catch her in action as an outside hitter, she adeptly played opposite hitter as well, showcasing her adaptability and versatility as a dynamic pin hitter.      Willow demonstrated impressive versatility during the camp, excelling in multiple front row positions. While I've primarily seen her as a middle blocker, she showcased her skills on the outside position as well. Her height makes her an ideal player in the middle, but her performance at the camp suggests she could thrive in any front row role. In 3-on-3 sessions, she also displayed her defensive capabilities by successfully digging balls from powerful hitters. This camp provided a valuable opportunity to see Willow's individual strengths and adaptability beyond what I've observed in club games.     Trinity is a versatile athlete excelling as both a setter and libero. Primarily a setter for her school and club teams, her graceful hands and light touch make setting look effortless. Her ability to set from almost anywhere on the court to an optimal spot for hitters carries over well to her libero role. Her setter background allows her to excel greatly in out-of-system setting. She also displayed exceptional passing skills on defense. As a 5A state champion and state leader in assists, Trinity brings a winner's mentality and high-level play to her positions. The University of Pittsburgh is gaining one of the best athletes in the state.     I was thrilled to see Rachel in action for the first time, and she did not disappoint. She excelled in the middle during both drills and games, showcasing a variety of attacks including quicks, threes, and slides. Her endurance was impressive throughout the fast-paced drills, and she maintained her aggressiveness for the entire event. In the competitive games, she delivered some excellent kills and recorded several blocks. Additionally, she showed some of her passing skills on back row. The University of Hawaii is gaining a high-level middle with great competitiveness and a high volleyball IQ.     Aliana excelled on front row, demonstrating exceptional skills both offensively and defensively. During drills and games, she impressed with her powerful swings and significant blocks. Competing against several older players, Aliana held her own against nationally ranked seniors and juniors, showcasing her ability to perform at a high level. This young player has a bright future and carried over her skills to Nationals, where she played a key role helping her team secure an 11th place finish out of 64 teams in their division.     I've been keeping up with Tierney on social media, so I was thrilled to finally watch her in person at the camp. Her vertical jump more than compensates for any doubts about her height. During hitting drills, she showcased her powerful swing, consistently hitting deep cross-court to zone 5 and 6.  When faced with blocks during gameplay, she often found ways to maneuver around or power through them. Her athleticism and agility were evident as she moved swiftly on the court during drills.
