California High School Report Vol 6

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The high school season is now upon us!&nbsp; Who has what it takes to win the coveted State Championship?&nbsp; California is one of the best states in the nation when it comes to this wonderful sport and we are here to highlight all of our amazing teams and players.&nbsp; Let's meet a few of the teams and players who are poised for a solid run this season.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Torrey Pines Falcons</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Falcons have a very well balanced squad that have quite a few amazing players that contribute to their winning ways.&nbsp; While some teams have only one or two players who get the majority of the attempts, this team can spread the ball around to keep the defense off-balance.&nbsp; There are two awesome outside hitters who fuel the fire for this team.&nbsp; The first fireballer is six-foot four junior stud [player_tooltip player_id='391079' first='Finley' last='Krystkowiak'] who is highly ranked on our site.&nbsp; She regularly records double-digit kills in each match and there is no way anyone will completely stop her from doing so this season.&nbsp; She has been doing this for the past few years and this year she has only gotten better.&nbsp; Her counterpart in the outside position is super high-flying sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='467596' first='Jaycee' last='Mack'], who can light up the opposition with her offensive exploits.&nbsp; She has a cannon for an arm and unleashes it any chance she can get.&nbsp; What is truly special about her is that she is fully capable of playing any position along the front row if the team needs or wants to create some mismatches.&nbsp; Versatile junior pin [player_tooltip player_id='391095' first='Samantha' last='Krystkowiak'], who can play on either side, is a kill waiting to happen for the Lady Falcons.&nbsp; Junior middle [player_tooltip player_id='542502' first='Marina' last='Vosloo'] has been extremely solid on both defense and offense at the net.&nbsp; Her kill percentage is very efficient and a big reason why they are tough to side out.&nbsp; Sophomore middle [player_tooltip player_id='545226' first='Stella' last='Delgadillo'] does her job really well being a secondary option when she rotates to the front row.&nbsp; The engine that makes this team run is a silky smooth sophomore setter by the name of Emery Gonzalez.&nbsp; We at Prep Dig are very high on her ceiling as a high profile floor general.&nbsp; Her size, power, high volleyball IQ, and athletic skill set are positioned to propel her to the top of any college scouting list that exists.&nbsp; She can thread the needle with the best of them on any location and has some of the softest hands we have seen in a long time.&nbsp; Stud sophomore libero [player_tooltip player_id='534502' first='Lila' last='Green'] is leading the team in digs and that doesn't look like it is stopping any time soon.&nbsp; Her quickness and balance are something to be marveled at as she moves around the court and keeps the ball in play.&nbsp; This squad is set up for a long run in the playoffs and I feel sorry for anyone who goes up against them in their schedule.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Palos Verdes Sea Kings</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Any team who has one of the best players in the entire nation is one that people need to keep their eye on.&nbsp; Although any one person cannot win a volleyball match by themselves, it sometimes feels as if [player_tooltip player_id='188236' first='Kaci' last='Demaria'] has cloned herself and hits the ball multiple times in a given rally.&nbsp; The superwoman six foot four senior outside hitter is listed on many national ranking lists as one of the top players in the enter United States.&nbsp; &nbsp;Her offensive exploits are legendary and she will scare the opposing defense in a hurry.&nbsp; If there is not a double block committed to her at all times, you can almost guarantee a kill when she attempts a swing.&nbsp; And that includes when she is in the back row.&nbsp; She does have some phenomenal help on this roster.&nbsp; Senior and captain Mallory Lebreche is a force to be reckoned with on the right side both as a setter and an opposite attacker.&nbsp; Setter Lexi Johnson is no stranger to high-level ball as she plays on the same club team as Demaria.&nbsp; This young lady can play defense like a libero in the back row and dishes the rock so smoothly.&nbsp; The senior setter is battle tested and ready to deliver more than just the volleyball.&nbsp; She is ready to help deliver a long run in the playoffs for her last year.&nbsp; Junior outside hitter Mia Serpa might be undersized at the position, but she gets up ina hurry and can score with hard driven attacks and off-speed shots.&nbsp; She is not afraid to battle and the team will use her fight in order to not quit.&nbsp;
