The 2025 Player Rankings were updated this week, so we are breaking down each position.

At outside hitter, this class has a lot of powerful arms that can take over a match.

Let's get a closer look at how all these talented hitters rank.

Current Top 5

1. [player_tooltip player_id='156343' first='Navea' last='Gauthier'], Shelby/FaR Out

Gauthier can rack up kills in the blink of an eye. The 6'1” Ohio State commit has over 2,600 kills in her prep career and could push to become the MHSAA's all-time kill leader if she continues at her current pace. Nobody has figured out a way to slow her down.

2. [player_tooltip player_id='156287' first='Isabelle' last='Busignani'], Marian/Michigan Elite

The leader of a high-powered Marian offense, Busignani shows all the competitive fire and athleticism you could ask for in a pin hitter. The Cincinnati commit knows when its time for her to step up and carry her team to victory.

3. [player_tooltip player_id='156292' first='Jessica' last='Costlow'], SMCC/Michigan Elite

Costlow has shown the natural evolution of a volleyball player, as she started as a middle, then grew in her offensive ability to an outside, and then added an elite level of defensive play to become a six-rotation option. She is committed to Toledo

4. [player_tooltip player_id='156313' first='Marie' last='Laurio'], Saline/Legacy

Laurio has tons of explosiveness and she can really come down hard on the ball. The Syracuse commit has a great motor and wants to come through with a momentum-shifting kill. She's also improved a lot defensively over the years to be among the best at the position.

5. [player_tooltip player_id='156284' first='Gabriella' last='Babinski'], South Lyon East/Michigan Elite

Her name may not appear on this chart, as she's listed as a RS, but Babinski plays as an outside as well. The 6'1” commit to Georgia Southern has a lot of different speeds and angles with her swing, but she generates as much power as anyone in the class.

Others To Watch

[player_tooltip player_id='224272' first='Cambria' last='Gaier'], Caledonia/FaR Out

Gaier has quietly worked her way up into one of the top outsides in the state. A South Alabama commit, Gaier knows how to put the ball to the floor. She's got great speed on her swing, but she's crafty enough to make the tough plays when she has to adjust on the fly.

[player_tooltip player_id='261206' first='Sarah' last='Bradley'], Everest Collegiate/Unified

Bradley put the state on notice last November when she propelled Everest Collegiate to a dramatic Division 4 championship run. The Calvin commit brings the same energy for the final point of set five as she does for the first point of the match.

[player_tooltip player_id='224601' first='Grace' last='Allen'], Mona Shores/MVA

As the offensive leader for a Mona Shores team that could shake things up in 2024, Allen is one to keep an eye on. The ball really flies off her hand and she's a versatile hitter that can be moved around the floor well. She finishes from the pins, the middle, or the back row.

[player_tooltip player_id='343669' first='Chloe' last='Aalfs'], Buchanan/Dunes

Aalfs is listed at 5'10” but she seems to play longer than that. Her timing and agility at the net allow her to be a big force offensively and defensively. She's put in a lot of work to improve her all-around play and its showing.

[player_tooltip player_id='156302' first='Finley' last='Helm'], Mt. Pleasant/Five:1

Helm shows a lot of good on-court leadership and willingness to make the tough plays to help her team succeed. She's got a technically sound offensive game, but the effort she puts in to make tough defensive plays is a strength as well.
