Houston Freshman Showcase – Top Performers Vol 4

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Who are the best freshmen volleyball players in Texas?&nbsp; We definitely saw some players who wanted that title over the weekend at our Freshman Showcases. &nbsp;The first session was held on Saturday July 27^th at the Competitive Edge Training facility in Houston, TX. &nbsp;The one aspect that sets our showcases apart from every other one in the country is how we offer coverage, before, during, and after it is completed.&nbsp; This series of articles will discuss those special players that stood out for various reasons to our court coaches and scouts.&nbsp; They have won our prestigious Top Performer award.&nbsp; Let's meet the winners!</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='580646' first='Alessandra' last='Garza'] [2028] 5-5 Libero (HS: Dobie/Club: Houston Stellar/Verbal: Uncommitted)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Alessandra is currently an unranked prospect in the 2028 Class according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings, but that is only because we have not released them yet.&nbsp; She plays volleyball at Dobie High School and plays for the Houston Stellar club volleyball program. &nbsp;Miss Garza put on a great show and impressed her court coaches to earn a nomination for this great honor.&nbsp; Her production on the court definitely had a big impact on why we chose her.&nbsp; You can see the training that she has put in with every dig and pass.&nbsp; My coaching eye is drawn to her footwork and how she does a great split step to balance out her feet prior to contact.&nbsp; This is something that is taught and expected but not all younger players have the discipline to make sure that each rep is done correctly.&nbsp; Miss Garza definitely uses the split step and this is going to make sure that she is very balanced at the point of contact with her platform.&nbsp; She is also a master at playing the ball with her hands and this will help her dig count get higher and higher in each match.&nbsp; We liked what we saw and we think she has a lot of potential Please help us congratulate her on earning a Top Performer award.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='580648' first='Amiya' last='Bryant']&nbsp;[2028] 5-10 Middle (HS: Klein Oak/Club: Texas Legacy/Verbal: Uncommitted)&nbsp;</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Amiya is currently an unranked prospect in the 2028 Class according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings, but that is only because we have not released them yet.&nbsp; She plays volleyball at Klein Oak High School and club for the Texas Legacy volleyball program.&nbsp; Miss Bryant is an absolute beast at the net for any squad that she plays for.&nbsp; There were some amazing players at the showcase, but Amiya definitely stood out for her viciousness with the ball.&nbsp; Her frame is very long and super strong for her young age.&nbsp; When she gets ahold of the ball with no block in front of her, everyone on the other court better watch out because she has a cannon.&nbsp; Her fast wrist snap definitely adds a lot of pop into her attack.&nbsp; I am not sure that there was a more dynamic middle who was able to use her athleticism to move the ball around the block like she was.&nbsp; She is definitely someone who I will keep my eye on because I think she might have what it takes to be a State Ranked player when I release the first rankings for this grad class in a few months.&nbsp; I think everyone should take note of her name now.&nbsp; Please help us congratulate her on earning a Top Performer award at the showcase.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='580651' first='Aubrey' last='Morrison']&nbsp;[2028] 5-8 Outside (HS: Brenham/Club: Texas Legacy/Verbal: Uncommitted)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Aubrey is currently an unranked prospect in the 2028 class according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings, but that is only because we have not released them yet.&nbsp; She plays volleyball at Brenham High School and also for the Texas Legacy volleyball club program.&nbsp; Miss Morrison is one of those outside hitters who can truly do it all on the court for six rotations.&nbsp; As an attacker, she possesses some great tools, which make her very dangerous.&nbsp; She can fill a stat book in a hurry due to her amazing court vision and how she sees holes in the defense.&nbsp; That vision while she is in the air allows her to look like she is going to swing away and keep the defense on their heels.&nbsp; Then she unleashes some off-speed shots that fall over the block to score.&nbsp; She is not just a shot maker though.&nbsp; This young lady has some power that she unleashes during opportune times that power through or around the block to score for her squad.&nbsp; We witnessed this for the entire two hours of play from her.&nbsp; Not only is she a dynamic point scorer from the pins, but she can pass and play defense very well also.&nbsp; Please help us congratulate her on earning the Top Performer award for this showcase.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Stay tuned for more articles on your favorite athletes that excelled at the showcase.&nbsp;
