Texas High School Report Vol 3

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Texas High School volleyball season is now upon us.&nbsp; Last season there were some amazing teams and super competitive matches that took place.&nbsp; Everyone is practicing hard to solidify their lineups in order to chase the ultimate prize, a State Championship.&nbsp; There have been some big tournaments that have happened over the past few weeks and we are already starting to see some fireworks.&nbsp; Let's take a closer look at who is standing out for these teams on the rise.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Allen Eagles</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>After last year's third place finish in district and only losing one major impact player, this team has stood up amongst the usual suspects and said, “We are here!”&nbsp; The main reason for this surge in the spotlight is due to the play of freshman phenom [player_tooltip player_id='586653' first='Maya' last='Ogbogu'].&nbsp; The club scene and college coaches across the country knew that she was coming and now the high school scene is wishing she wasn't here.&nbsp; But this young lady is definitely here with her super high vertical, amazing hang time, and electric arm swing that is obliterating the ball to pieces with every swing.&nbsp; Her name will be etched into the rankings very soon on our site and will likely be at the top of the leaderboard in kills amongst all players in all grad classes.&nbsp; She is that good.&nbsp; As the kids say, Maya is HER…Period.&nbsp; But wait just a minute.&nbsp; This squad has some bangers to go along with her.&nbsp; [player_tooltip player_id='235287' first='Kennedy' last='Crayton'] is a super high-flying jolt of electricity herself on the pins.&nbsp; She is a true joy to watch as she lights up the scoreboard and stat book.&nbsp; The opposition must be mentally defeated after Maya rotates to the back row and then here comes Kennedy up to bat.&nbsp; The attack just never stops with these two juggernauts.&nbsp; Sophomore pin [player_tooltip player_id='503707' first='Gaby' last='Wenger'] can score on either side of the setter with some solid power.&nbsp; She is scoring at a decent clip and it takes the pressure off of the two left sides.&nbsp; So is [player_tooltip player_id='765105' first='Olivia' last='Kitur'].&nbsp; Liv is making some great decisions with the ball in her hands and the team is enjoying the rewards of her efforts.&nbsp; Senior [player_tooltip player_id='314726' first='Katelyn' last='Bowman'] is definitely delivering on the offensive end.&nbsp; Her contributions do not go unnoticed by us spectators.&nbsp; Senior middle Hailey Barlow is a wall for this Eagle's defense.&nbsp; She sets the tone as she leads them in total and solo blocks.&nbsp; Superstar junior setter [player_tooltip player_id='389257' first='Emily' last='Capangpangan'] has wowed us before in our showcases and throughout the club season and is doing it again during the high school season.&nbsp; She is setting up her hitters very nicely and reaping the assists in the process.&nbsp; Sophomore setter Sophia Milo is also doing a nice job running the offense with her.&nbsp; Senior liberos Avery Penrod and [player_tooltip player_id='254087' first='Brooklyn' last='Parker'] make a solid duo in the back row keeping this team in system with their ball control.&nbsp; This team sure is fun to watch and we cannot take our eyes off of them as they dice up opponents with some high-octane action on the court.&nbsp; I strongly encourage you to watch this young and fun team put in some serious work.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Georgetown Eagles</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Don't look now but the Eagles of Georgetown are soaring this year.&nbsp; Led by superstar senior [player_tooltip player_id='179899' first='Addison' last='Gaido'] on the pins, they are putting teams away at a fast pace.&nbsp; Primarily attacking out of the right side, Addy is one of the toughest outs in the game.&nbsp; Not many can match up with her at the net at all.&nbsp; She is hitting out of both sides of the setter during serve receive rotations and this makes it very difficult for teams to set up their defense.&nbsp; Opposing coaches must know where she is at all times and track her routes, otherwise they are in for a long night.&nbsp; Fellow senior Molly O'Shaughnessy is playing exceptionally well on the left side and adds a ton of firepower for this squad.&nbsp; With her scoring at such a high clip, the defense has a hard time moving from pin to pin.&nbsp; Senior middle Mckenzie Bernard is also doing a lot of damage on the offensive end hitting at a whopping .354 clip.&nbsp; But she is not a one-trick pony as she also leads the team in total blocks also.&nbsp; This all-around play is a great reason why she is so scary for opposing teams.&nbsp; Stud sophomore setter/right side [player_tooltip player_id='534305' first='Amelia' last='Albright'] is showing that she can hang with the big girls and provides a lot for this team to stay on top.&nbsp; The back row is led by senior libero [player_tooltip player_id='318849' first='Raegan' last='Ramirez'] who can cover a lot of ground in a hurry and is not afraid to get dirty on the floor if she has to in order to keep the ball in play.&nbsp; She has no regard for her body at times and it is so fun to watch.&nbsp; The way she plays defense is intense and gives the team some much needed energy.
