Freshman Watch: Nebraska 2028s with Big Week 1 High School Debuts

The Class of 2028 hasn't had a shoutout yet, but that's about to change.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Our first Nebraska 2028 watch list is quickly approaching. She carried the banner for Premier Nebraska on the club side and competed at this summer's Nebraska Freshman Showcase. This rangy outside hitter has started her Gretna career with 3.5 kills per set through 15 sets, putting Dostal halfway to the century mark already. Janssen is another name that has been in the spotlight for a while. She played up a year during the club season and helped Premier Nebraska 15 Black clinch a spot at GJNC. Janssen is a high-flying lefty who took her game-changing power to our Freshman Showcase in July. More recently, the Gretna freshman logged three double-digit-kill matches during her team's stay at the Bellevue West Invite. Her quick lateral movement has yielded some impressive blocking numbers through the season's first few matches. We'll hone in on Millard North's three-set weekend battle with Omaha Westside in which Todd registered four blocks against the Warriors. Palmer continues this growing tradition after snagging some early reps with the 2024 Wolves. She logged six kills in the team's season opener against Elkhorn and finished with a 0.545 average. Tuttle made a big impression with Exeter-Milligan/Friend as the Bobcats notched a pair of wins last Thursday. That doubleheader included an extraordinary setting performance against Lewiston, putting Tuttle at ten assists per set in the contest. She is putting down over four kills per set from the outside hitter spot but does even more work in the back row. Her four digs per set would be good by libero standards, but Janulewicz is a lockdown defender who can also pace the offense. Marotz could be the next in line and has some scorching early numbers to show for it. She has attacked for a 0.393 clip through the season's first 11 sets. This effort was keynoted by Marotz's 21-kill performance in the season opener against Creighton, and she has kept up a solid pace since then.
