On September 14, Lansing High School hosted the 30th Annual Lansing Invitational.

I scouted two early matches. The second match I watched was a two-set Seaman victory over Lawrence in Black Pool action. Seaman is the defending state champion in class 5A.

Here is a report on prospects who looked impressive during the Vikings' win over the Lions.

[player_tooltip player_id='173374' first='Maegan' last='Mills'], 6'0”, MBL, Seaman, ‘25

Mills is ranked No. 7 overall in the class of 2025 and has verbally committed to play for Tulsa University. I am constantly surprised at how smooth she moves and how strong her defensive game is. She did not disappoint the Seaman faithful in this match. She tallied 10 kills, five digs, seven serve receptions, and three aces. She has excellent flexibility in her hips and she has a huge reach. When she gets a solid set she will finish the rally with a kill nine times out of ten.

[player_tooltip player_id='219738' first='Kinley' last='Wilhelm'], 5'8”, DS/L, Seaman, ‘25

Wilhelm had the best match I have seen from her. She is currently ranked No. 96 overall in the class of 2025. She filled up her stat line with 19 serve receptions, six digs, two aces, and one kill. She has quick feet, communicates well, and plays composed during long rallies. She is uncommitted and looking for college offers. I feel like she could potentially play at the Division II level, but might need to go the JUCO route to get there.

[player_tooltip player_id='219715' first='Campbell' last='Chabot'], 5'6”, S, Seaman, ‘25

Seaman's setter Chabot is ranked No. 40 overall and has verbally committed to Johnson County CC. She had a solid match against Lawrence finishing with 16 assists, four digs, and two kills. Her assist numbers might be slightly off as she wears No. 3 and Seaman's other setter [player_tooltip player_id='514541' first='Harper' last='Hafenstine'] wears No. 2. It took me a couple of plays to realize they were both setting. Chabot made a couple of outstanding digs that caught me by surprise.

[player_tooltip player_id='446308' first='Kennedy' last='Glasgow'], 5'8”, OH, Lawrence, ‘26

Lawrence battled the Vikings, but the Lions were at a huge size disadvantage. One athlete who kept Lawrence in the game was Glasgow. She is ranked No. 130 overall in the class of 2026. I had seen her previously play club ball, but this was the first time I saw her play a prep match. She collected six digs and nine serve receptions. She has an accurate serve that will help with her recruitment value. Glasgow has a nice platform and likely tops out as a JUCO or NAIA prospect.

[player_tooltip player_id='222096' first='Selah' last='Simien'], 5'5”, DS/L, Lawrence, ‘26

Simien is playing for the Lions this fall after previously playing for a homeschool squad. She is ranked No. 86 overall by Prep Dig in the class of 2026. She finished with four digs and five serve receptions. She moves well laterally and reads the ball well.

Rael Simien, 5'8”, OH, Lawrence, ‘27

The younger of the Simien sisters is currently unranked, but look for her to be added to the rankings when next updated. She is taller and more physical than her older sister. She collected 10 kills and is a long hitter who can elevate. I was surprised that neither of the sisters played six rotations. Lawrence is a different team when they are not on the court.
