–
Saturday marked the end of the 2023 season and man, did it go out with a BANG!

Division 3 was a virtually a copy and paste of last year's Final Four. With a rematch of last year's title game in the semis, and SMCC versus Cass City in the other, this one was a doozy. The 23 title rematch between St. Francis and Kalamazoo Christian went the distance with an epic ending seeing St. Francis upend the defenders. In the other semi, it was all business for the Kestrels that eventually led to a breeze of a championship match.

Led by the Division 3 MOP, [player_tooltip player_id='156292' first='Jessica' last='Costlow'], this championship run was a long time coming for the powerhouse program. Notching their first since 2020, and eighth in program history, the Kestrels are back on top. Take a look at who joins Costlow on this year's All-Tournament Dream Team.

OH - [player_tooltip player_id='156292' first='Jessica' last='Costlow']

This player was not going out without a state title to her resume. [player_tooltip player_id='156292' first='Jessica' last='Costlow'] was an absolute game changer throughout this entire MHSAA tournament. It wasn't just in the finals weekend that Costlow was unloading, it was every match in November. Costlow would not only get it done offensively, but defensively, she was just as tough. With a pair of double-double outings in the finals, Costlow combined for 35 kills and 29 digs.

OH - [player_tooltip player_id='220968' first='Quinn' last='Yenshaw']

This player has really stepped up her game from last year's Final Four to now. [player_tooltip player_id='220968' first='Quinn' last='Yenshaw'] was dialed in and on the hunt for a title. In the semifinal against Kalamazoo Christian, Yenshaw was lights out in the upset, knocking down 25+ kills. She also proved to be a strong presence from the service line too, with four aces in the match.

MB - [player_tooltip player_id='156307' first='Shelby' last='Ignash']

In her third Final Four in a row, [player_tooltip player_id='156307' first='Shelby' last='Ignash'] always knows how to play her best ball when it matters. Albeit, in a losing effort, Ignash was a pivotal reason why they didn't join the other 6 teams in the postseason to be demolished by SMCC. Ignash was touching just about every ball adding 22 kills, 14 digs and 4 blocks to her already impressive resume.

MB - Maya Gaertner

You got to love some good net defense! Maya Gaertner had some of the best in the entire field. Despite the Comet's loss in the semis, Gaertner was one of the brightest ones on the court. To go along with her 6 kills on the day, Gaertner more impressively had 6 blocks in the 5 set brawl.

S - Reagan Zuiderveen

Get you a setter that can do it all. Reagan Zuiderveen not only had a superb outing at the setter position, but she was having a pretty nice night in the defensive zones as well. Zuiderveen put up some big time numbers in the D3 semifinals with 40 assists and 15 digs.

L - [player_tooltip player_id='223048' first='Avery' last='Nance']

[player_tooltip player_id='223048' first='Avery' last='Nance'] could easily be touted as one of the liberos in any division this weekend. That's how lights out she was. If it weren't for her backrow play containing the high-powered offense of the Comets, St. Francis may not have advanced to another title game. In the semifinal alone, Nance had 30+ digs and she would then follow it up with 14 digs in the championship match against SMCC.

UT - [player_tooltip player_id='156321' first='McKenna' last='Payne']

This weekend saw [player_tooltip player_id='156321' first='McKenna' last='Payne'] do just about every position imaginable. In the semifinals against Cass City, Payne would nearly post up a TRIPLE-double performance, with 7 kills, 18 assists, and 12 digs. Fast forward to the title match, Payne was absolutely electric on the pin hitting .412 to bring home 8 kills and 13 digs. An absolute role player, Payne could pull the switch up with a snap of the fingers and deliver every time.
