The Maryland and DC state playoffs have finished, as well as the Virginia Independent School Playoffs. The last to go are the Virginia High School League (VHSL) playoffs. Prep Dig so far sits 5 for 5 in our preseason picks for state playoff champions for Maryland, DC and the Virginia Independent schools. In the VHSL we have already missed out on the Class 6 (Madison) and the Class 2 (Bruton) state champion predictions after their elimination. The other four classes are still in play as we journey into the final four.

Class 6

[player_tooltip player_id='181243' first='Evelyn' last='Jurden']

West Springfield swept past Glen Allen. The Jaguars failed to reach 20 points in the sweep. [player_tooltip player_id='181243' first='Evelyn' last='Jurden'] continued her bombardment of the opposition with 22 kills that included just one hitting error for an incredible .750 hitting percentage. She also contributed 12 aces as well as seven digs. Audry Busch also strung together 7 aces. Springfield as a team picked up 22 digs which equaled the number of Jurden kills.

Langley swept past Colgan in four. This sets up a battle between two Virginia Elite teammates in [player_tooltip player_id='181298' first='Ana' last='Toumazatos'] versus [player_tooltip player_id='181243' first='Evelyn' last='Jurden'].

Chantilly swept past Patriot. The Chargers held them to less than twenty points in the three sets played. [player_tooltip player_id='181297' first='Lameen' last='Mambu'] (10 kills) and [player_tooltip player_id='455102' first='Erin' last='Green'] combined for 19 kills. [player_tooltip player_id='377344' first='Julia' last='Horan'] generated six blocks.

Alexandria City took five to defeat Grassfield. Grassfield won sets three and four 25-23 and 25-20 but the Titans prevented the reverse sweep by taking the fifth set 15-8. Benisa Moore contributed 20 kills in the loss but 44 hitting errors and a .080 hitting percentage proved the Grizzlies downfall. Landyn Smith still dished out 44 assists in 144 sets. [player_tooltip player_id='464589' first='Julia' last='Kelly'] ranks as the top offensive threat for Alexandria City. They now will face Riverside for the sixth time this season. Independence is the only team to have beaten Riverside, but their overall record against them is 1-5. They took them to five sets in one loss. Independence relies on the offensive contributions of [player_tooltip player_id='290176' first='Kieran' last='Rhoton'] and [player_tooltip player_id='235296' first='Makenzie' last='Dvorznak'].

Riverside swept Albermarle with scores of 25-10, 25-15 and 25-10.
