Volleyball in the Dakotas has seen a surge in talent and competition in recent years, with teams across North and South Dakota making their mark on the sport. From powerhouse programs to up-and-coming squads, the region boasts a deep pool of players who excel in every aspect of the game. Whether it's the fierce rivalries in Class A or the hidden gems rising through the ranks in Class B, volleyball here is more than just a sport—it's a community united by hard work, passion, and a commitment to excellence. The Dakotas are producing some of the top talent and I am very excited that we are getting to dive in and share insights on these rising athletes who are making waves in the sport.

Currently, South Dakota boasts an impressive 130-150 high school volleyball teams, spread across the AA, A, and B divisions. On the club side, there are 40-50 competitive club teams, giving young athletes plenty of opportunities to refine their skills year-round. Leading the charge are well-known programs like Sanford, Kairos Elite Volleyball Club, Adrenaline Volleyball, and SoDak Attack, among others. These clubs are producing standout players who are making waves on both the state and national stage.

As the sport continues to grow, there are some names that you'll definitely want to remember—

In North Dakota, there are currently 140-160 high school volleyball teams divided into A and B divisions, but starting in the fall of 2025, a new structure will be introduced with AA, A, and B divisions, reflecting the growth and competitiveness of the sport in the state. On the club side, the landscape is expanding with 30-40 club programs and counting. Some standout clubs include IA Volleyball, Sanford (Summit), ND Freeze, and Volt, to name just a few.

The Future of Dakota Volleyball is Bright! These names are just the beginning—volleyball in the Dakotas is thriving, and these athletes are already making a significant impact on the court. Each player brings leadership, determination, and a relentless drive to compete for a state title alongside their teammates. They don't just lead with their words; they lead with their actions, raising the level of play around them and putting the team first, always with their eyes on the ultimate goal.

As the volleyball scene continues to grow and evolve, there's no doubt that more hidden gems will emerge, and I'm excited to dive deeper into the talent in both North and South Dakota. Volleyball here isn't just surviving—it's exploding with energy, passion, and untapped potential. Stay tuned, because the volleyball world in the Dakotas is only going to get bigger and better.
