Class 5 is where the big girls play, bringing height, power, and a high-level skill set. Here are some of my top picks for pin hitters for the 2028 class.

[player_tooltip player_id='729510' first='Andi' last='Gardner'] – 5'7" - Truman

With 324 kills in the season, Andi finished as the top pin hitter for 2028 in Class 5. The sparkplug outside finished 2nd on her team in both kills and digs and was among the top two in passing. A high contact point allows her to use the top of the blockers, and she likes to use the outside hands as a tool.

[player_tooltip player_id='630748' first='Avery' last='Brune'] and [player_tooltip player_id='729480' first='Lauren' last='Dorey']–Jackson

Avery and Lauren will be big-time players for Jackson over the next three years. Avery finished the season second in kills with 311, and Lauren put down 239 for third on the team. Avery also finished second in digs with 267, and Lauren was tops in assists with 706. The dynamic duo will look to keep Jackson in the upper echelon of Class 5 volleyball.

[player_tooltip player_id='729520' first='Kamiyah' last='Harris'] – 5'8" – Staley

Staley has a big-time outside hitter in Kamiyah. She is already jumping out of the gym, has a lot of power, and will be fun to watch over the next three years. With her vertical and hangtime, she will exploit teams. Kamiyah finished second on the team in kills with 231 and is only two kills away from being the team kill leader.

[player_tooltip player_id='543378' first='Olivia' last='Maciel'] – 6'1" – Blue Springs

The Wildcats' opposite hitter is long and plays way bigger than her frame. Her long arms, great swing, and footwork on the right pin also terminate out of the middle. Olivia finished with 279 kills, which is good for third on the team and second on the team in blocks with 50. No matter what position she plays, her output will be the same. Olivia's going to be tough.

[player_tooltip player_id='666872' first='Payton' last='Osegueda'] – 6'0” – Park Hill

Payton came in and made a monster impact for her team, leading them in kills with 215 kills and hitting .267. Her skills as a hitter are already high for her age, and within three years at Park Hill, she will be one of the top attackers in the state. A big, powerful outside with a big vertical allows her to pick and choose where she will thump the ball. Payton has all the potential to be a top tear left pin, or middle or opposite.

[player_tooltip player_id='729533' first='Eleanor' last='Reisch'] – 5'9" – St. Teresa's Academy

Playing for elite club teams has helped Eleanor become one of the top 2028 pins in the Kansas City area. A quick and powerful approach allows her to terminate at will, and her cut shots are on point. Eleanor finished 2nd in kills with 190 and 3rd in digs with 204.

Lucy King – 5'10" – Grain Valley

Give Lucy time to develop, but she will be a great player for Grain Valley. She is versatile and can hit on either pin, giving her team a massive block on the right side. Lucy put down 122 kills and added 31 blocks. She's listed as 5'10" but plays well above the net and uses her wide wingspan to hit over the block.
