Standout Setters From the Top 250 Expo

The Prep Dig Minnesota Top 250 Expo can seem intimidating at first but there is just something about these players and their love to play the game. They settle in and cheer each other on like they've been playing together for years. These athletes give it their all for 120 minutes and the setters typically have to do the most adjusting. They are not only getting passes from a constant rotation of passers but then setting close to 50 different hitters in the matter of an hour. All the while they are showcasing their incredible leadership skills. So here are some setters that stood out this past weekend!    So, I will admit that I am still upset with myself for not pulling her aside to get a top performer picture. Peck showed such consistency in her footwork, contact, release, and location. She was quite literally a machine. You can tell Peck is a really strong athlete because she is super fast to the ball and she moves it from pin to pin with great efficiency. She jump sets with ease and she is clearly competitive in any sort of game-like situation.     Buri had some of the fastest footwork I've seen in a while. She also brings this kind of grittiness and energy that tells you no play is dead without her making maximum effort on the ball. She's impressed me more and more each time I see her play between her IQ and her efficiency. Buri has the power to push the ball from one pin to the other from anywhere on the court. She is making some really smart choices and is hard to read. I can't wait to see what she accomplishes this club season.     Zimpel really does have beautiful placement on her slide set. I could see the middles just drooling as they were chasing after it. Zimpel plays with a certain maturity that helps her make connections with all the hitters she had to set on Sunday. She has clean, fast hands and a strong push to move the ball quickly. I really like her connection with the middles and her ability to spread out her distribution during 6 v 6. Zimpel is solid on defense and not afraid to step into the front row.She's a great all-around player with a lot of positive vibes.     Schulz does not waste time and she gets down to business right away. She commands the court and she provides a positive presence every time she enters the gym. Schulz has nice hands and a ton of potential. I don't know if I've seen Schulze play live with her team since last February but she always impresses me. I can't wait to see what the season has in store.     Burton caught my attention early with a super tricky setter dump early on. She just had great awareness of what was happening on the other side of the net. Burton has great hands and some really impressive form. She keeps the ball in front of her and can be very hard to read no matter where she decides to go with the balls. Burton is fast, gritty, and fun to watch.     Chamberlain was speedy to the ball as well as releasing the ball. She got her hands up early and kept the ball in her control. Her location was solid along with her footwork. I'm interested to see her club team play this winter.     Claussen has a quick release of the ball and she can send the ball to the pins at a nice fast pace. She, herself, is also a quick dynamic player. She has great hands and solid overall form which is always fun to see. Claussen has a calming presence on the court and I can tell those playing with her feed off that energy. She leads by example and she will definitely be a setter to watch this winter!     Gienger had a really great pace on the slide which is not always easy to do. She made adjustments based on feedback and found consistency. Gienger makes good decisions on the court and moves the ball around really efficiently. She has a lot of talent and she was impressive from start to finish with clean hands and working to make a play on every ball.     Zentz had really good location with her sets and when that is consistent you become the setter every hitter wants to attack off of. She is technical and has good form. Zentz also plays a very clean and efficient game which you don't always find in young setters. She feeds her hitters and moves the ball around to utilize as many attackers as possible. Zentz is definitely one you should keep an eye on.
