Michigan Winter Rankings Update: 2027 Middle Blockers

Many of the classes top prospects emerged as big power players in the high school space and proved to be game chagers in their respective programs. Exiting the fall, and entering the winter, this marks the beginning of a huge recruiting year for the class. A mere six months and 15 days stand between these players and the opening of the all important June 15th date.</p>   <p>Take a look below at the latest update alongside some of the biggest stock risers and new names!</p>    <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Stock Risers</h2>   <h4 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='442976' first='Cynthia' last='Ockerman'] - Brighton/Legacy</h4>   <p>For so many reasons, [player_tooltip player_id='442976' first='Cynthia' last='Ockerman'] is the top blocker in this class. She's massive at the net, standing at a stout 6'4. Her net play is one of the fastest developing in this class with her improved lateral speed and press on the block. Ockerman is a tour de force in all facets of the game.</p>   <h4 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='464378' first='Ava' last='Bush-Nelson'] - Jenison/FaR Out</h4>   <p>Another top ranked middle, however, I fear we have not scratched the surface of what [player_tooltip player_id='464378' first='Ava' last='Bush-Nelson'] can truly be capable of. ABN is an animal with her offensive range. She can attack out of the middle in a variety of routes, but can also look like an elite level scorer on the pins as well.</p>   <h4 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='490373' first='Kate' last='Colosky'] - Portage Central/FaR Out</h4>   <p>This may be one of the most explosive middles you'll find in this class. [player_tooltip player_id='490373' first='Kate' last='Colosky'] had a lot of heads turning at the tail-end of the club season last year. She followed that up with an intriguing fall that poises her quite well for an even bigger sophomore year with FaR Out. She's an electric attacker and has the potential to be just as potent of a blocker in the open field.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Names to Know</h2>   <h4 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='490033' first='Christina' last='Rosenow'] - Romeo/Michigan Elite</h4>   <p>This is a player that could see her stock rise in a big way in 2025. In her freshman year, she played up with Monsters' 16-1 squad that did pretty well at AAU Nationals. [player_tooltip player_id='490033' first='Christina' last='Rosenow'] now joins a new and improved 16 Mizuno squad at Michigan Elite and looks to be a leading force for them in the middle after huge gains in the fall with Romeo.</p>   <h4 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='523905' first='Madisyn' last='Bowman'] - Plymouth Christian/Michigan Elite</h4>   <p>Another newbie to the MiElite cannon, [player_tooltip player_id='523905' first='Madisyn' last='Bowman'] is another exciting puzzle piece to keep an eye on in this class. Bowman comes by way of Dynamite and Plymouth Christian. In the fall with PCA, this is where Bowman really started to come into her own and curate some buzz. She boasts a heavy arm that could be a versatile tool all throughout the court.</p>   <h4 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='443000' first='Samantha' last='Monroe'] - Marian/L2</h4>   <p>Following an insane national title run at AAU Nationals in the 15 Open, [player_tooltip player_id='443000' first='Samantha' last='Monroe'] found herself in an exciting situation in the fall. With an embarrassment of riches, Marian is loaded at every position which offered up a lot of intrasquad competition. This only benefitted Monroe's game as she saw huge gains in multiple areas of her game.</p>   <h4 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='523875' first='Kate' last='Sulkowski'] - South Lyon/High Performance</h4>   <p>You always want to be playing your best volleyball at the end of the season and that is exactly what [player_tooltip player_id='523875' first='Kate' last='Sulkowski'] was doing at South Lyon this fall. She's a player I got to see quite a bit throughout her 15s club season but didn't see too much this fall until the very end. Her game has elevated big time with a faster swing on the ball and tighter press on the block.</p>   <h4 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='523863' first='Willow' last='Mason'] - Saginaw Heritage/Michigan Elite</h4>   <p>Similar to Colosky, [player_tooltip player_id='523863' first='Willow' last='Mason'] is up there for one of the most explosive players in the state. She's a top rated track sprinter, so this is to no surprise to anyone. Mason is a tad undersized with a 5'10 frame, but her ability to move laterally and launch off the court more than makes up for the lack of size.</p>   <h4 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='586777' first='Nemiah' last='Carper'] - Roscommon</h4>   <p>This player has gone seriously under the radar until this fall and man, could this player be the next big thing. An All-State honoree in only her sophomore season, [player_tooltip player_id='586777' first='Nemiah' last='Carper'] has the ability to be an all-time great for Roscommon. She oozes of athleticism and is still so raw in her game. I am excited to see her develop further over the next few years.</p>   <p></p>
