Oregon Top250: Setters Shine

It was quite the afternoon at the Courts in Beaverton on Sunday, December 22nd. With over 100 athletes from Oregon and Washington gathering to compete, it was a fast-paced and high-energy-filled gym.   To wrap up our coverage of the showcase, we'll be spotlighting athletes by position who attended the event. Check out our evaluations of the setters in attendance!    White is a 5'7” setter from Portland, Oregon. With exceptional footwork and soft hands, her ability to deliver a playable ball, regardless of the first contact, was impressive to witness. Beyond her technical skills, she was a tremendously positive force on the court, constantly encouraging and uplifting her teammates.     Rowland is a 5-5 setter from Forest Grove, Oregon. Her relentless hustle and determination to get her hands on every ball did not go unnoticed. She consistently established strong connections with middles during hitting lines and gameplay, and her tempo and accuracy on back sets stood out. Additionally, her tough float serve proved to be an asset at the service line.     Wallace is a 5-8 setter from Longview, Washington. Transitioning from middle to setter for this showcase, she impressed with her soft touch and consistent set location. Her adaptability and poise in this new role were commendable.     Comerford is a 5-7 setter from Portland, Oregon. She turned heads with her quick release and impressive hand strength. When in rhythm, her developing jump set added a dynamic element to her game. Her high volleyball IQ was evident during warm-ups, where she skillfully placed shots into open spaces on the court.     Newell is a 5-9 setter from Thurston, Oregon. She displayed a soft touch on the ball, delivering clean, accurate sets that attackers could easily capitalize on. Her consistency in placement during hitting lines seamlessly translated into gameplay.     Buddress is a 5-6 setter from Beaverton, Oregon. She showcased impressive natural hand strength and setting capabilities. Her set placement consistency was also a standout attribute during gameplay.     Bryan is a 5-2 setter from Beaverton, Oregon. Her steady and reliable sets to the outside demonstrated consistent tempo and location. In gameplay, she also showcased strong connections with her middles.     Erickson is a 5-9 setter from La Center, Washington. She made an early impression with her soft touch and precise ball placement. She has a jump set Her jump set has improved significantly over the past year, and when she's in rhythm, she executes it effortlessly, bringing an added dimension to her game. Her ability to connect with a variety of middles during hitting lines and gameplay was exceptional.
