The Libero Recruitment List: Top DS/L at Top250 Expo (Pt. 2)

It was quite the afternoon at the Courts in Beaverton on Sunday, December 22nd. With over 100 athletes from Oregon and Washington gathering to compete, it was a fast-paced and high-energy-filled gym.   To kick off our coverage of the event, we'll be highlighting the top DS/L from classes 2026 through 2028. These rising stars are already making waves in the volleyball world and will undoubtedly be valuable additions to your recruiting list.    Castillo has attended several of our showcases, and we were thrilled to see the significant progress she's made since her last appearance. Her serve receive continues to be technically sound, marked by consistent footwork and strong angles that provide stability and precision to her game. However, where Castillo truly shines is on defense. She is a quick and tenacious defender whose exceptional reaction time and relentless pursuit of the ball kept her team in countless rallies during gameplay. We are excited to see her continued growth and impact on the court in the seasons to come.     As the #1 DS/L in the class of 2027, Lebeck's presence elevated the level of play at the Top 250 significantly. She is a high-caliber athlete, excelling in every aspect of her game. Across the backcourt, she commands attention with her poise and skill. Her serve receive is steady and confident, marked by diligent footwork and creative angles that allow her to cover a lot of space. During position work, she showcased her remarkable defensive range, consistently getting touches on challenging balls. With her exceptional technical abilities and upward trajectory, Lebeck is poised to become one of the most sought-after recruits in her class.     Bennett, a rising talent from the class of 2028, was an exciting athlete to have in attendance at the Top 250 Showcase. Her ability to anchor the backcourt was evident from the start during Queens and continued to shine throughout the event. She excelled in serve receive, demonstrating quick lateral movements to get to the ball and maintaining excellent spacing between her body and platform. Her calm and composed presence on the court during gameplay brought a sense of stability, keeping her teammates focused and at ease.     Moody, one of the top defenders in the class of 2028, showcased her exceptional backcourt skills at the Top 250. Her athleticism and dynamism were on full display, making her a force to be reckoned with on the court. She remained composed under pressure in serve receive, consistently delivering precise passes off even the most aggressive serves. Moody also excelled in handling out-of-system balls, confidently using her hands to provide her pin hitters with attackable opportunities. Moody's performance was nothing short of impressive, and her potential is undeniable.     Richmond made the long drive from Medford, OR to compete at the Top 250, and she wasted no time making her presence known. During position work, her relentless effort stood out, doing whatever it took to keep the ball in play. We noted an impressive play that got all the athletes on her court excited: she sprinted and laid out for a deep corner tip to left back, and was able to get the ball back in play. Previously an unknown athlete, Richmond's performance at the showcase proved she's a competitor to watch.
