2026 Ranking Update: Persuasive Middle Blockers

Prep Dig Minnesota has released another ranking update for the Class of 2026 this week. There are lots of big names and some that we are still learning. One position that shows the depth of the class is the middle blocker. There are a lot of promising middles that are leaving their mark on the high school scene and going to turn some heads during the club season. Here's a closer look at some middle blockers you need to know from the class of 2026.    Geist works hard in transition and gets up off the ground quickly. She will go after the 5 corner the moment it shows weakness. Geist can impact a match with her blocking and could increase her number of attempts to perfect her skills.     Soiney knows how to nail the corner when they are in system but also during a chaos play. The 5'10 middle was really impressive as a blocker this season and her attacking is something to watch as well. Soiney is a consistent driving force and will continue to help drive Mabel-Canton in her senior campaign.     Beckering isn't afraid to power through the opposing block. She swings hard angles and works around most blockers with great success. Beckering has a 6'0 frame that she can use to her advantage along with athletic skills that will provide her with what she needs to be a dominant middle.     Koprek takes a great swing on the ball and her team puts a lot of trust in her running the net. Each time I see her play she has made a small adjustment to improve her swing. Koprek is on her way to be a high-level middle.     Hansen gets a ton of great block touches. She plays very locked in and makes quick and smart reactions at the net. She is athletic and has solid skills to complement her length. Hansen is finishing her swing strong and making a statement with her block.     Laffond has a really high contact point and a long reach to help her make contact. She takes up a lot of airspace with her block and takes care of business at the net. Laffond gets in the air quickly and she can take a really fast swing on a hard angle.     Quandt doesn't need to worry about timing quite as much as others because she has a gift of being able to just hang in the air. She hangs out for a bit and then gets her block and joins the rest of her team back down on the court. You do not want to give her an overpass either because she LOVES smashing those like a 1 year old with their 1st birthday cake.     Hertaus has several tools at her disposal and she is highly effective with all of them. She can hit a nice offspeed ball or light up te right back when a blocker is late. If there are smaller blockers in front of her she will take advantage otherwise she exposes the split by speeding up her armswing for the kill.     Gruenes is a smart player and it shows in her attack choices. She sees the block and does as great job working off the sides to expose the angles. Gruenes makes an impact with her blocking as well as her offense.     Walthers is a bright and positive ray of sunshine on the court and she's athletic to go with it. She is really fast off the ground and eats up the overpass. Walthers is really active and always moving. Walthers has a really nice slide route and switch as well.     Watson makes a connection with her setter, [player_tooltip player_id='492608' first='Jaylin' last='Lillquist'], and she crushes the 1 corner She can hit both angles to work around the block. Whether she is cutting the ball back across the body or finishing with a high constant and thumbs down finish. Watson has one more season to make her mark and I'm sure she will.
