Soiney was one of the most dominant and statistically impressive attackers in the state this season. She received All-State recognition for the third consecutive year, which is a testament to her sustained elite performance. Soiney finished her final high school season putting down 470 kills on a highly efficient .409 hitting percentage. She also led the Cougars with 84 total blocks and 53 aces. These numbers made her the Southeastern Conference (SEC) Player of the Year and cemented her legacy as the Mabel-Canton career kill leader, with 2,205 career kills, which is unofficially ranked as 10th all-time in state history.

Soiney is the definition of a Division II-level blocker. Her footwork is clean, her penetration over the net is textbook, and she brings a physicality that shifts matches. What I noticed most this week was how she tracks the ball from setter to hitter—her eye work is sharp, allowing her to be one step ahead on most plays. Even when she didn’t record a stuff block, her ability to get strong touches and slow down attacks changed the rhythm of opposing offenses. Kinley Soiney Kinley Soiney 5'11" | MB/OH Mabel-Canton | 2026 State MN has already racked up 128 kills this season, anchoring Mabel-Canton’s front line with a commanding presence in the middle. She combines quick lateral movement with a fast arm swing, making her one of the most reliable options on quick sets and slides. Soiney excels at finding open space, whether that’s driving a ball straight down on a “1” set or stretching the block wide with a slide behind the setter.

Defensively, she’s just as disruptive. Soiney’s ability to read hitters and close seams has made her a force at the net, often altering shots even when she doesn’t record the block. Her court awareness and timing allow her to not only terminate efficiently but also create opportunities for her pin hitters by drawing blockers.

Another Southeast Minnesota athlete to watch is Kinley Soiney Kinley Soiney 5'11" | MB/OH Mabel-Canton | 2026 State MN who will be a key middle blocker for SMV 17-1 Black.  She preps for Mabel-Canton High School who is a small school power in Minnesota.  Soiney has great hangtime and can hit a variety of tempos out of the middle.  She has great side to side movement that allows her to close the block and become available to score points in the middle. She is one who could be on the radar for college coaches looking for a 2026 middle. 

Soiney knows how to nail the corner when they are in system but also during a chaos play. The 5’10 middle was really impressive as a blocker this season and her attacking is something to watch as well. Soiney is a consistent driving force and will continue to help drive Mabel-Canton in her senior campaign.

Soiney has a great vertical and a super fast armswing that get the job done. She is typically showcasing a lot of all-around skill and she isn’t afraid to amp up the aggression at the net. Soiney is going to be a game changer for her club team, high school team and beyond.

Every time I see Soiney play she just gets better and better. She is explosive and athletic making her dangerous in every aspect of her game. Soiney is aggressive in her approach and she moves quickly at the net. She has a great vertical and super fast arm swing to go with it. Soiney can put up a big block and won’t back down to a challenge across the net.

Soiney does a great job of getting up in the air quickly and I love the connection she has with Morken. When they are on they are virtually unstoppable. Soiney is definitely a primary weapon and she won’t hesitate to crush an overpass.
