MKE Jamboree - Day 1 Standouts

The Milwaukee Jamboree started off with a bang. I was able to scoot over and watch many of the 16s teams in the morning that I haven't seen before. In the afternoon, I headed down and watched the 15s and 17s. The following are some standouts from day 1 of pool play. She plays with a boldness and intensity that you wish all players have. Playing as a 6 rotation outside, Bell takes big swings from the pin and out of the backcourt. I was also impressed with her blocking. She used her speed and vertical to stop numerous attempts by her opponents today.     Stevenson is a setter playing for FEVA. She is quick and knows how to spread out her offense and get all of her hitters involved. With quick and powerful middles like [player_tooltip player_id='733479' first='Kendall' last='Carlson'] and [player_tooltip player_id='514798' first='Addy' last='Oldenburg'] at her disposal, Stevenson did a good job finding them in transition, delivering clean balls to pins, and throwing in a setter dump or two here and there to keep her opponents on their toes.     Draeger ruled the backcourt in the libero jersey for her [program_tooltip program_id='428637' first='Revolution' last=''] team on Day 1 of pool play. Draeger's ability to read is quite exemplary. She picked up numerous tips, pushes, and setter dumps. She anticipated effectively and seemed to always be in the right spot to pick up everything. She also covered her attackers well, giving her team several second chance attack options.     Proefrock is one of those players that every coach wants on their team as she can do so many things well - and today she showcased many of those talents. She was terminal from the pins and took some huge rips out of the back court. While those are fantastic and fun to watch, I was especially impressed with her ability to dig efficiently and run down most everything from end line to end line in the back row.     Mitchell is a 6 rotation outside that is not only fast but has a ton of power and finesse. Combine that with her excellent court vision, and you have a terminating machine. Mitchell transitioned quickly all day and generated many kills by hitting cross, line, banging it off opponents hands, and tipping to open spots on the court. She also took big, effective swings from both pins and out of the back court.     Nelson is a hard working outside that consistently comes through in big plays. She was terminal from the pin, dug up some huge attacks, and was solid in serve receive. She was constantly communicating with her teammates and was a true “go-to” on the court. Nelson is set to have a breakout season and we look forward to capturing her success along the way.     [player_tooltip player_id='747575' first='Mya' last='Friese'] is a powerhouse hitter. Some other words that I would use to describe her are dynamic and electric. I watched her a few times today and each time was impressed with her ability to be bold and go up a take big swings on the ball. She is one of those hitters that is going to generate kills nearly every time. She will hit the seam, go over the top of the block, or use her opponents hands to score points.     Mollie is a great volleyball players with a versatile skill set. She has excellent court vision and terminated an array of shots all over the court. However, what really struck me today was her back court game. She was solid in server receive, covered tremendous ground in middle back, and dug up some great attacks. She was even seen setting out of system balls to her pins. After watching her I was left wondering - is there anything she can't do?
