MKE Jamboree: New Names with Big Talent Jumping on our Radar

The Baird Center is home to some great volleyball tournaments. The JVA Milwaukee Jamboree of 2025 was no different as teams from across the region gathered to compete and showcase their abilities. There are always new names at these events and I sure came across ones with some BIG talent. Below are some of the new players that caught my eye, jumped on our radar, and are ones that we will need to keep tabs on. [player_tooltip player_id='747696' first='Kenzie' last='Jones'] is a force as a middle blocker. She read the ball well and used her speed and quick footwork to stop many attacks this weekend. She also transitioned quickly to be an offense threat as well. She has a quick arm swing that made her hard to stop offensively. Teams routinely found themselves in trouble when they left her team in system and were able to feed her the ball.     I watched Newman rule the backcourt on Saturday as the libero. She was stellar in serve receive and played great defense. She reads the ball well and is super agile which allowed her to pick up many tips and dumps. When I walked up to her court on Sunday, she was playing outside which was equally impressive. She terminated many balls from the pin and was an effective blocker also. Newman is the ultimate utility that every coach wants.     Anderson is fun setter to watch. She ran an effective 5-1, spreading out the offense and getting all of her hitters involved. She has excellent court vision and was able to execute numerous setter dumps at optimal times as well. Anderson also plays solid defense. She was a blocking force at the net and dug several cross and line shots that came her way.     Luehring is a quick footed, efficient setter that led her team to the finale in the Jamboree. She communicates well with all of her hitters and works hard to place the ball just were they need it. She was able to find her middles in transition and effectively push the ball to the pins for them to terminate as well. Luehring has a solid serve that many opponents had trouble receiving. She had many teams frazzled and constantly out of system.     Schneider and her team made it all the way to the championship on Sunday. Much of this was due to her ability to set clean and consistent balls to her hitters. Each time I watched her this weekend, I was impressed with how good her hands were, that her location was precise, and that her hitters could terminate most balls with ease.     Wolkow had an impressive performance at the Jamboree as her team took home the trophy. Running a 5-1 offense, Wolkow is a smart setter that anticipates well and moves quickly to the ball. She finds her middles in transition when off the net and was able to get all of her hitters going. Wolkow was a leader on the court, constantly communicating on both offense and defense.     Mayer impressed this weekend at Jamboree. She is a lefty middle with a quick powerful swing that knows how to read the block in front of her. She was able to score many points by going around the block or off her opponents hands. She also puts up a solid block herself due to her good footwork and ability to read the opposing teams setter so well.
