ST. LOUIS - Members of CIA 14 Black look connected on the court. That's the benefit of playing alongside one another for years.

The squad looked formidable when watching it perform at the Quad Cities Showdown in early January. The home team, Select Mizuno, beat CIA in three sets for the Gold Bracket championship.

For the uninitiated, the 14-year-old age group is comprised largely of student-athletes winding down their eighth-grade year of school. That means they'll be entering the high-school arena in the fall.

It's fun scouting this age group to project what these kids can do as freshmen. We see ninth-graders impact outcomes every season.

CIA 14 Black boasts multiple candidates that could fit that description in 2025. And one of the better players (Molly Street) won't be a freshman until the following fall.

Street is a dynamic youngster with excellent bounce off the court and a powerful swing. You would not know she's playing up a grade when watching her through six rotations unless someone told you. Quick reflexes and lateral quickness make Street a steady performer in the back row, which Osage High will welcome in 2026.

A pair of high-end middle hitters give opponents no relief when facing CIA 14 Black. Chloe Degroot and Brynlee Asche are imposing at the net whether they're throwing up the block or slamming down a kill. Benton Community will welcome Degroot in the fall, while Asche is off to Dunkerton.

Hudson will be adding top talent to its roster next season. [player_tooltip player_id='754872' first='[player_tooltip player_id='523167' first='Natalie' last='']' last='Rausch'] is an outside hitter with serious power, and Charlette Kirkpatrick is a versatile performer who can put it down or pick it up.

Stella Zmolek has a case as the state's top 14U right-side hitter. She's tall with long arms and a big swing. You can find her at South Tama in 2025.

Morgan Adams and [player_tooltip player_id='782418' first='Claire' last='Scherbring'] share the libero jersey. Both show promise as passers. Adams will attend Don Bosco in the fall, and West Delaware will add Scherbring to its program.

Ally Aschenbrenner gives CIA a versatile front-row presence. She'll proceed Street at Osage.
