Creative Setters at Cross Court Classic 15 Open division

Brown Convention Center, in downtown Houston, this past weekend, as the venue hosted the 2025 edition of the Nike Cross Court Classic, one of the most traditional club tournaments of the year.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>This year's edition featured 710 teams from all over Texas and neighboring states, which competed for two days in one of the 29 divisions of one of the largest tournaments held in Houston in 2025.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:list --> <ul class="wp-block-list"><!-- wp:list-item --> <li><a href="https://prepdig.com/2025/03/nike-cross-court-classic-15-open-photos/">Nike Cross Court Classic: 15 Open - Photos</a></li> <!-- /wp:list-item --></ul> <!-- /wp:list --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Prep Dig Texas was in attendance on Saturday and we got to watch all eight teams that competed in the 15 Open division. She ran their offense in a very efficient way, keeping all the hitters involved and remaining accurate with her locations to every position. George tried to play fast when she could and did a great job of getting her hitters in good positions to score. Her firm hands guided the team's offense and made it one of the most dynamic and consistent in the division. McGuire did an excellent job with her distribution and managed to get the ball to the pin from anywhere on the court. She had somewhat of a shorter group of hitters to work with and had to be very creative with her playmaking in order to give them a chance to score consistently. Ortiz was among the most technical setters in the division and did a great job when working with passes off the net. Her setting was very accurate, even when she had to track passes well off the net, and she was always very good when setting against the flow of play. Lawson's size made of her an asset at the net as she also took on hitting duties and contributed with her strong blocking.
