For every addition to the rankings, there are kids that have been there, done that and increased their recruitment stock significantly since our last update in December. Here are five athletes from five different clubs from around the state that have really turned heads this club season.

Training with Munciana, London's rise has been nothing short of meteoric. An adept combination of size, speed, and solid fundamentals, Miss Evans burst on to the scene when she attended our showcase, but has REALLY come around once real game play started this spring. No, Carmel didn't have the greatest season this past fall. But that didn't stop London from being the best player on the floor for the Greyhounds. She locates the ball well, attacks with regular success, and is tough to go against when she's blocking. I'll be interested to see what happens next fall---when she's even better than she is right now.

One of the best M2s in the class, Emery is a big and physical middle who is fast in transition and tough on defense. With the inaugural 16-1 squad at PHP, Emery has shown up and shown out at multiple major tournaments this spring, including Central Zones, Triple Crown and Bluegrass, dominating all comers. I like her quick footwork in transition as well as net defense, and her positive and fiery attitude when she puts a ball away. Hitting a heavy ball is one thing; a lot of kids "hit hard". The real question is if you can do it on every swing, every time, without exception and score points? The answer for Emery is a resounding "yes".

I don't often talk about defensive specialists because there are so many. They look the same, they play the same, and they have the same bruises on their legs. Courtney's a little different. As the libero at Summit, she's responsible for passing half the court in serve receive (which she does at an above-average level) and left-back defense (which she covers well). At current, she's a little "armsy" when the ball is outside of her body, causing the ball to pull a little. But for now, Summit's success this spring has been chiefly because of their libero, as Courtney's first contact is where it's at.

A kid that is new to higher level ball, Alexis is a long and lean three-rotation attacker that regularly goes over her competition. Although listed as a middle, I could easily see her playing any of the front row positions at the next level. Her footwork is quick on the attack and her long strides allow her to defend from pin to pin. She is a raw talent, but the athleticism is there to terminate, and she's significantly improved since the high school season.

Leighton's improvement has been in one area that stands out for me---she's learned quickly how to terminate on the out-of-system ball that many in this age group just roll over and keep in play. That's a huge statement to make for a kid her age, but she's figured out how to "go for it" on a regular basis, regardless of where the ball is set or where she is going with the ball. Although she's still got some training to do in the serve receive and defensive departments, her attack has improved to the point of mentioning here.
