Long, lean and super smooth, London’s rise has been incremental since her arrival on our Watch List two years ago. Her biggest jump came this past club season where, as the leading setter in her age group at Munciana, she earned a commitment from Big East power Marquette. With the ability to run a fast offense, get to every and any ball passed her way and make it look easy, it’s no mystery why London’s the first setter to earn a commitment in this class.

London might have an argument with my statement above. Bigger and more versatile (she attacks in the front row for Carmel during school season), Miss Evans runs another of the top offenses in the state at Munciana. She can get to overpasses that most can’t, is more offensive and regularly terminates, and can keep her sets in tempo regardless of where the ball is passed. London’s steady rise over the last two full years is no fluke—she’s one of the top players in the state, who just so happens to set at a D1 level and has the size to back it up.

Training with Munciana, London’s rise has been nothing short of meteoric. An adept combination of size, speed, and solid fundamentals, Miss Evans burst on to the scene when she attended our showcase, but has REALLY come around once real game play started this spring. No, Carmel didn’t have the greatest season this past fall. But that didn’t stop London from being the best player on the floor for the Greyhounds. She locates the ball well, attacks with regular success, and is tough to go against when she’s blocking. I’ll be interested to see what happens next fall—when she’s even better than she is right now.

London is the epitome of the setter-right side hitter combo. She brings the height and athleticism needed to play front row and the fundamentals and skill to set and play defense through the back row. She should be pretty comfortable in this role seeing as she played it this past varsity season at Carmel HS and is doing the same now for the 16 Mustangs. For Carmel she was all over the statistical leaderboard as just a sophomore, coming in second in digs, aces and assists, and finishing third in total blocks. While watching her I love the confidence she plays with, as well as the energy she brings on a big block or when one of her hitters terminates. One thing I look for her to improve on this club season is her setup of the block on the right side, especially when the ball is set inside. Evans puts up such a solid, big block that you hate to see it too far outside the opposing hitter, allowing them to hit sharp cross court. Her defense is really good due to her great reading ability – you can tell she has been playing for a while and coached well – which will make her a great prospect at the next level.

Easily the tallest and most athletic setter in this class, Miss Evans is more than just “a tall setter”. She can go get tight passes and make them hittable, she can be offensive when needed, and she defends her position at the net at an above average level. Stuck on a Carmel squad that struggled mightily this past fall, London will be more than happy to show her true talents on Munciana’s Mustangs (16-1), who have their fair share of exceptional hitters to set.
