Game Changers: Setters Who Manipulate the Ball

In the fast paced game of volleyball, the best setters don't just set the ball - they manipulate the game. One thing that is not talked about enough is the ability to reverse the flow at the net. This can shift the momentum of the game and manipulate the opposing blockers. This disrupts the opposing blockers and opposing back rows ability to read the set and read the hitters, often times creating a wide open net to swing off of. [player_tooltip player_id='547495' first='Olivia' last='Ambeau'] Sydney Lavender [player_tooltip player_id='749906' first='Molly' last='Miller'] [player_tooltip player_id='744126' first='Emma' last='Schnackenberg'] Kiah Covington    Ambeau is an aggressive setter on a very talented 501 15.1 team. Ambeau runs a 6-2 setting from the back row and swinging in the front. Her quick hands create big successes for her attackers as gives them the ball with the ability to beat the block. She reverses the flow setting from pin to pin to middle, switching up the set causing chaos on the other side. She is all around a great player and is someone that should be on your radar.     Lavender is an all around impressive player playing up on the 18-1 team for EVA. Lavenders connection with her attacker [player_tooltip player_id='749613' first='Kelis' last='Battles'] is dangerously good. Lavender is very good at hiding where she is setting the ball to, faking out the opposing blockers. Lavender does a very well job at giving her hitters options to swing on open nets.     Miller is a star in the making. Being a lefty and playing 6 rows has given her the ability to be a very aggressive setter, often times swinging hard driven balls on the second contact and catching the other team on their heels. Miller dominates from everywhere on the court whether swinging from the front row, setting from the back row, or at the service line. Miller puts up an impressive amount of points just as a setter.     Emma does a great job at pushing her outsides to the pin, giving them the option to swing line. She is able to set from one side of the court to the other effortlessly. Schnackenberg is also a pretty aggressive setter, scoring many points from dumping from the back row or pushing the ball to the deep corners. She has a great connection with her attackers and has a very high volleyball IQ.     Covington is a very scrappy setter running a quick offense on her Conway Juniors team. Covington has a great connection with both pins, setting quick tempo sets to the outside and quick plays right behind her to the right side. Covington reads where the opposing blockers are and calls for sets that will set her attackers up for success, many of times swinging on no block. Covington is a player that should definitely be on your watchlist.
