Texas Setters to Watch at the Salt Lake City Showdown

Club volleyball teams from all over the country will have yet another opportunity to secure a spot in the USA Volleyball Girls National Championship over the next few days, when the first week of action of the Salt Lake City Showdown will be held.   The tournament will feature 13 divisions in four different age groups, driving over 550 teams from around the US to the Salt Palace Convention Center for three days of action. Let's look into some of the most exciting players who will be in action this weekend, starting with the setters:    Green will set for the Premier 16 Black G team that will compete in the tournament's 16 Open division. She's a dynamic, all-around player, who brings a lot to the court with he ability to contribute in different areas. One of the first things that stand out about her setting is how well she tracks passes and digs, always getting into the best possible spot to make contact with the ball. Green is also very technical and does a very good job of remaining accurate even in out-of-system plays. She plays excellent defense at the right back position and, benefiting from her tremendous athleticism, can also take on hitting duties, doubling up as a right side or even playing all six rotations as a pin hitter. And don't forget her tough floaters, which typically get opponents in trouble in serve-receive.   <a href="https://sportsrecruits.com/athlete/keelyn_green2?video=4962051">Highlights</a>     Cormier and her Flyers 16 USA – Mike team are entered in the 16 USA division this weekend in Utah. A talented playmaker, she's capable of running the team's offense in a very efficient and productive way and has been playing up with the club's 18's team this season as well. Cormier is excellent when setting against the flow of play and does a very good job of turning out-of-system passes into hittable sets with an incredible ability to send the ball to the pin from anywhere on the court. She has a nice, clean touch on the ball and does an excellent job of running a fast-paced offense while keeping all of her hitters involved. McElroy is also a weapon from the service line as she's capable of putting a lot of pressure on opponents with her floaters. The setter gets herself into great spots on the backcourt and is always ready to contribute with digs and defensive plays.     Srubar is part of the [program_tooltip program_id='431337' first='Texas' last='Tornados'] 17 Adidas side that will compete in the 17 USA division this week. She's an intelligent and well-rounded setter, who can contribute both at the net and on the backcourt. As a playmaker, Srubar stands out for her consistency and reliability, which allow her to make great decisions with her distribution and keep the team's offense running smoothly even in difficult moments. She also adds a lot on the backcourt, serving with great efficiency and consistently coming up with big defensive plays. Srubar does solid work at the net too, using her length to provide a solid blocking presence and even taking on hitting duties with great efficiency when needed.      Molina will be in action in the 17 Open division with her [program_tooltip program_id='745880' first='Houston' last='Stellar'] 17 Elite team. She's a very technical and intelligent setter, who likes to play creatively when in system, moving her hitters around and getting them in the best possible position to score points. Molina also has tremendous body control and does a great job of turning into the air to get to tight passes up at the net. Her backcourt game is incredibly strong too as she's an amazing server, who gets aces pretty much every time she gets on the court, besides also delivering excellent digs.
