Let's revisit the Midwest Power League trilogy.

Early-season regional events have given us an excellent glimpse at under-the-radar athletes and rising talents in the Great Plains scene. Like past seasons, the Midwest Power League has been the driving force behind many of these observations. We've already visited three iterations of this annual series, and plenty of new names have entered the spotlight.

We've had more time to review all the highlights from 2025's third Power League, and Class of 2027 stock risers are entering the picture. Here are a few to follow after the Power League outing in Lincoln.

Morris has established herself as an all-around impact player for Premier Nebraska 16 Black, which showed in the win column at Sunday's Power League. 16 Black compiled a 3-0 record throughout the event while Morris had a steady hand in the effort. This left-side hitter is an effective terminator in the front row and takes pride in locking down the middle-back area as a floor defense. Morris is also a key passer for her squad, allowing her 16 Black teammates to flourish. Another GJNC bid could be brewing.

We're pulling another 16s competitor for the Power League's 17 Open division. Vohland is a versatile attacking force who does most of her damage on the right pin for [program_tooltip program_id='428743' first='VCNebraska' last=''] 16 Black. She sees blockers well and is particularly good at chopping through narrow windows down the line. Moreover, 16 Black is not afraid to use Vohland as a backcourt contributor who can make defense plays atypical of an opposite. The Midwest Power League has allowed us to see this full range in Vohland's game.

Nebraska Elite 16 Surge boasts an exceptional floor general at the libero position. Bahle knows how to position herself to make a play and meshes well with her fellow 16 Surge defenders. This Omaha Westside sophomore exhibited great finesse and ball control during the third Midwest Power League, propelling her team to a runner-up finish in the 16 Club division. Further breakthroughs are on the way.

Andreasen is becoming one of Nebraska Juniors 16 Red's most versatile hitters. Her native position is in the middle, where she can run quick routes off of one foot. Even in three-hitter rotations, Andreasen mixes in some slides and terminates with authority. 16 Red can also use this physical athlete on the right pin and let her thrive there. Lineup options keep expanding.

Outside hitters continue to raise the bar for [program_tooltip program_id='428717' first='Nebraska' last='ONE'] 16 Black. We've praised many of 16 Black's pin attackers on this site before, but Schmidt reached another level through this month's Power League. Her effortless elevation allowed for full swings on the outside, even if Schmidt didn't have time for a full approach. She gets on top of the ball quickly and can adapt to any tempo that's dished her way. Schmidt and 16 Black are hoping to be serious bid contenders as the stakes get higher toward the end of the month.

Wiedel is the prototypical ball-handling weapon we're used to seeing in the Nebraska Juniors gym. She's building off an outstanding sophomore campaign with Thayer Central in which she logged over seven assists per set and three digs per set en route to the Class C2 championship. In other words, she can run the offense or lock down the back row. Wiedel's setting prowess entered the spotlight at this month's Power League, and we're excited to see more in the coming weeks.

Let's wrap up with another emerging setter from a high school powerhouse. Cansler has made a quick impact with Archbishop Bergan and has continued developing in the Premier Nebraska gym. This crafty setter found ways to push tempo even when circumstances weren't ideal. Cansler's willingness to take risks opened up plenty of opportunities for 16 Silver's hitters during a productive Power League outing.
