There’s a lot of credit to go around for Lincoln North Star’s best-ever volleyball season. Schmidt was an indispensable part of the top-seeded Navigators’ offense, producing nearly three kills per set on a 0.200 clip. This athletic pin hitter has been a major 2027 stock riser since her spring season with Nebraska ONE 16 Black. That team made postseason noise at GJNC, so a state tournament trip might have been par for the course for Schmidt. Elite experience is paying off.

Let’s pull from the Class A ranks. Schmidt was already having an exceptional calendar year after helping Nebraska ONE 16 Black reach GJNC, but her junior season with Lincoln North Star went a step further. Schmidt’s resume is now bolstered by taking part in LNS’s best season ever, reaching the Class A state title match after securing the No. 1 overall seed. Aside from her ability to terminate in the front row, Schmidt produced a jaw-dropping eight aces in the semifinal sweep over Lincoln Southeast. That’s some all-around dominance.

Schmidt is so much more than an elite scorer for top-seeded Lincoln North Star. She can also lock down Gator serve-receive pattern and provide invaluable transition digs for her offense. This six-rotation outside hitter logged a team-high 12 digs in North Star’s intra-city triumph over LSE, sending the Navigators to their first-ever semifinal appearance.

Schmidt has joined several of her Nebraska ONE co-conspirators on a stacked Lincoln North Star squad, and the year-round cohesion has produced fabulous results. The ‘Gators are still undefeated, and Schmidt boasts 3.6 kills per set for North Star’s formidable offense. Summer momentum is paying off after Schmidt and her Nebraska ONE team trekked to Texas for USAV Nationals. Another postseason excursion could be looming this November.

Schmidt has joined McKernan on the list of stock risers from Nebraska ONE 16 Black. The Lincoln Southeast junior gets off the floor quickly and churns out well-placed shots on the left pin–a staple skill set of so many successful Nebraska ONE attackers.

Outside hitters continue to raise the bar for Nebraska ONE 16 Black. We’ve praised many of 16 Black’s pin attackers on this site before, but Schmidt reached another level through this month’s Power League. Her effortless elevation allowed for full swings on the outside, even if Schmidt didn’t have time for a full approach. She gets on top of the ball quickly and can adapt to any tempo that’s dished her way. Schmidt and 16 Black are hoping to be serious bid contenders as the stakes get higher toward the end of the month.

Schmidt gives us another new addition to follow on Nebraska ONE ‘s revamped 16 Black roster. This “dream team” rode its left sides to a 17 Open championship at the Midwest Power League, and Schmidt was a major piece of that puzzle. The Lincoln Southeast sophomore showcased her range by cutting inside the block or carving down the line. Schmidt can also handle a variety of tempos, allowing her to capitalize on open seams on the outside. Last weekend’s proceedings have established 16 Black as a bid contender at upcoming qualifiers.

We’ve looked at a few pin permutations from VCNebraska 15 Black, and Schmidt has become a fixture in a lot of those variations. She is flexible enough to add depth on the left and the right, providing a critical component to 15 Black’s future GJNC plans. Schmidt has caught fire in late-season action while wielding her strong blocking on the wing. Get ready to watch a multi-dimensional effort from the VCNebraska camp in two different 15s divisions.
