A total of eight players from last year's Asics Navy Pier National tournament championship team returned to play for the Crush Volleyball Club 17 National team.

Calvary Christian's [player_tooltip player_id='533373' first='Anna' last='Hickey'] and Bracken County's [player_tooltip player_id='212193' first='Macy' last='Lucas'] return from that team with the most varsity experience as hitters. Lucas helped the Polar Bears to another district championship this past season.

Bishop Brossart's [player_tooltip player_id='727153' first='Payton' last='Marshall'] and St. Henry's Malia Jones start things off with sound passes. Then Taylor (Ohio) setter Evie Holbrock sets up the powerful hitters in Ryle outside hitter [player_tooltip player_id='740425' first='Stella' last='Welch'], Conner outside hitter Chrissy Minter and Cooper middle blocker Autumn Barker.

The only two players that did not play on that team last year were Calvary Christian hitter Reagan Brummett and Cooper setter Brooklynn Ellis. Brummett led Calvary Christian in kills this past season.

Jeffrey England is the team's head coach. The highest finish so far has been third out of 20 teams in the 17/18 Club Division in the Nike River Rumble on Feb. 1. The team next plays May 3 in the 25 Team Indiana Classic in Indianapolis.

Marshall (pictured) brings versatility to the Mustangs. She may get her chance this fall after limited varsity action in the fall. Marshall does a good job with crisp first passes then can step in at setter when necessary. She distributes the ball well to a number of places.

Lucas brings a dynamic skill set to the team. Lucas does a good job angling shots away from blockers. She can hit balls off blockers then send soft balls to the shallow parts of the court on the next play. Lucas could be one of the top hitters in the 10th Region this fall with continuous improvement.

Hickey gives the team productivity at all six positions on the court. She can make sound passes on one play then quickly transition to offense. Hickey has a great cutter to the right line and can send sizzlers from the back row. She's trying to improve her skills in hopes of going out strong her senior year.

Brummett gives the team a sound tandem in the middle. Brummett uses her size well to find different ways to put balls down. She mixes in a number of hard and soft hits. She does a good job adjusting to her setters.
