Welch (*pictured) continues to lead a depleted Cleveland Volleyball Company (CVC) 15 Black team due to injury. She is the backbone of there current competitive effort and experience, which was highlighted well in their most recent event at the Windy City NQ. Missing some key point scoring pieces, her setting tools and floor leadership are helping those around here raise their level of play and their team’s overall competitiveness. You can next see this team compete at the Nike Classic later in April.

Cleveland Volleyball Company (CVC) 15 Black finished 2-5 overall and in 61st position, middle of the pack. Welch (*pictured) was their stability in battling through day one. They went 2-1 on Saturday to create a challenge match opportunity and a minimum of the open level bracket for the remainder of the event. Her effort on the weekend never wavered as she ran a good offense when in system while also doing her part to hustle after balls in broken plays to create chances for her team that included good balance across the net.

Welch helped guide here Cleveland Volleyball Company (CVC) 15 Black team to a 5-3 overall record at the Nike Classic as this squad is dealing with some adversity due to injuries that have worked their way into the lineup. She is an experienced setter having earned valuable time for SJA’s varsity team that will serve her well to be the backbone that uplifts her teammates and help them compete aggressively, freely and with confidence going forward. She has the setting tools to be among the best in the Ohio 2029 class this early as her leadership and competitiveness take a more prominent role for her team.

A solid all-around player, Stella did everything well, and was an exceptional addition to her court for all of her reps. She has quick, deceptive hands and even quicker feet, and located each and every ball in the exact tempo and location it required for each individual hitter. It was as if her “teammates” at the showcase were her actual teammates in club or high school—-everything looked that much more fluid when Miss Welch was setting. I look forward to seeing Stella play more, as both a ref and a scout for PD.

Welch is establishing herself among the better setters in this Ohio 2029 as we are just getting started identifying and adding prospects to watch. She leads CVC’s top 14U team as their primary distributor with a skill set that can locate hitters well through all options from pin to pin. She is an offensive-minded setter as well as she can be aggressive with her setter dump opportunities at the second touch.
