Similar to the 17s teams, the Blue team is having a good season while the Pink team is figuring things out. The 16 Blue team had a solid outing at the Big South Tournament in Atlanta, winning the first eight games on the way to a fourth-place finish in the 16 American Blue Division.

Blue

With that strong showing in Atlanta, the team moved to 30-19 on the season. The dynamic Bowling Green duo of sophomore setter [player_tooltip player_id='850607' first='Reese' last='Romine'] and 6-0 freshman outside hitter [player_tooltip player_id='774363' first='Hadley' last='Beard'] lead the way. Beard has an approach of 9 feet, 10 inches. White House-Heritage junior middle Nakiya Gressler also has a high approach of 9-8.

The team lists three defensive specialists with two coming from Logan County in junior Kendall Porter and sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='914909' first='Maggie' last='Mitchell']. The other one is South Warren sophomore Emma Parnell. Station Camp sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='795550' first='Kenadie' last='Holl'] gives the team all-around play at outside hitter and defensive specialist.

Three hitters round out the roster. They are South Warren sophomore middle blocker Aubrey Nalley, Warren East sophomore right side hitter Kylee Wehr and Greenwood freshman pin hitter Catherine Lolars.

Callie Haynes is the team's head coach. The team plays in the Amateur Athletic Union Mid-South Challenge in Franklin, Tennessee on Saturday and Sunday.

Beard (pictured) is turning into a dominant force at the net for 16 Blue. Beard uses her height and high approach to send balls screaming to the ground with a tremendous downward trajectory. Beard goes over blocks and down lines. Defensive specialists have a hard time digging her up even if in the right position. Beard does not get frustrated if the first hits don't find the floor. She comes back with a different route on the next one. Beard can even smack balls from the back row. Beard has also developed a sound blocking rhythm with aggressive play at the net.

Romine has developed better touch on her sets during club season. She constantly puts hitters in position to succeed. Romine sends balls back toward the net when out of system. Romine can execute pipe plays. Romine mixes in a deceptive set-over. Romine has good topspin on her serves. Romine also does a good job stepping into hitting lanes and making good passes.

Holt is a great catalyst in the back row with her consistent first touches. Holl is really quick on her feet, yet stops to make crisp passes. Holl handles redirected balls well and trails plays with extreme focus. Holl sends across tough floating jump serves to different zones on the court.

Replogle has the hustle and determination to make an impact in the back row these last two years. She goes hard after balls only diving when necessary. She steadies her feet then uses a good platform to make solid passes. Replogle keeps good eyes on opponents then beats balls to their destinations on the floor.
