In what was the most dominant performance I have seen from a club team this season, the MAVS KC 16-1 squad opened up their region bid tournament with a two-set win over SW Pursuit 16-1.

It was a lopsided two-set victory for the MAVS, and multiple ranked athletes posted performances that will get them considered for big climbs up the Prep Dig Rankings.

Maslowski was on fire in this match. She is a six-rotation athlete ranked No. 10 overall in the Kansas Class of 2027. She walks on the court like she owns it. Maslowski is super competitive and is an emotional leader on her club team. The Blue Valley North prospect finished with five kills, four serve receptions, two digs, and two aces in the win over the Western Kansas squad.

So, Dean arguably had the best match of any setter I saw on Saturday and made a solid argument to increase her stock in the Kansas Class of 2027 rankings. She is currenlty ranked No. 25 overall by Prep Dig Kansas. After seeing her and being familiar with the Dean Sisters at Jefferson West, I am starting to think every person with the last name of Dean must be dominant on the volleyball court. She finished with eight assists in the win and recorded two aces. There are some talented setters in the Kansas Class of 2027, but I can boldly say she will move to the No. 2 or No. 3 slot at that position ranking after seeing her play this morning.

[player_tooltip player_id='528264' first='Avery' last='Hemphill'], 5'10”, OH/RS, Eudora, ‘27

Another athlete that I would say is underrated is Eudora's Hemphill. I was really impressed with the sand in her game. She is flat-out tough and willing to do what her team needs her to. She collected two kills, three digs, and two serve receptions in the win of the Pursuit. She is an athlete who can play six rotations and be plugged into a lineup anywhere in a rotation. She was the big surprise for me in the two matches I scouted.

[player_tooltip player_id='733192' first='Liv' last='Stevens'], 5'10”, OH, Bishop Miege, ‘27

Stevens is a front-row beast who can crunch a volleyball. She played primarily front-row only for MAVS KC 16-1. She recorded two kills and one block. Not to go down a rabbit hole, but she is a player who provides evidence of how difficult it is to keep track of so many kids. She is listed on her club roster as Olivia but is listed on her prep team as Liv. Her profile on Prep Dig is under Liv, and her older sister, [player_tooltip player_id='154040' first='Trinniti' last='Stevens'] is committed to play for Middle Tennessee State. I always encourage athletes to make sure to claim their profiles and add photos, contact information, and video highlights to separate themselves from the pack.
