I scouted two matches in Lawrence during the 16 American Region Bid Tournament.

The first match I watched was a two-set victory by KS Networks 16-2 over Shockwave 16-2.

I saw some familiar faces and some new ones in the two matches. Here is a look at prospects from the Lakers squad who impressed me. It's a team made up of Northeast Kansas prospects and included a trio of players from Silver Lake.

[player_tooltip player_id='766347' first='Karys' last='Deiter'], 5'7”, OH, Silver Lake, ‘28

So the best all-around performance in the match came from Deiter. She is a multi-sport prospect who I had seen play some club basketball, but this was the first time I saw her play volleyball in person. She is quick and athletic. She can play six rotations and finished the match with a team high five kills. She also recorded six digs and seven serve receptions.

[player_tooltip player_id='525466' first='Kylie' last='Hanni'], 5'3”, S, Silver Lake, ‘27

Hanni is a multi-sport prospect who is ranked No. 86 overall in the Kansas Class of 2027. She played setter for the Lakers, and her quickness stood out. She can push the ball to the pin but also has a quick middle set. She collected three digs and eight assists. She plays the game with poise and is a floor leader for the Lakers.

[player_tooltip player_id='516228' first='Jaylie' last='Whitehead'], 5'5”, DS/L, Silver Lake, ‘27

Whitehead plays libero like an NHL goalie. She moves well laterally and will attempt to get in front of every ball. She led the Lakers with nine digs in the win over Shockwave. She made consistent first passes and is willing to lay out for tough digs. She also recorded seven serve receptions in the first match of the day. She is currently ranked No. 90 overall in the Kansas Class of 2027.

[player_tooltip player_id='748145' first='Dasno' last='Mills'], 5'11”, MB/OH, Royal Valley, ‘27

Mills was one of two net-front bigs who played a key role in the win. She is a physical prospect who moves well for her size and frame. She hit the ball like it mouthed off to her. She finished with five kills and can block. She is currenlty unranked but has been set to be added to the rankings after an impressive high school season.

[player_tooltip player_id='766349' first='Jelena' last='Depusoir'], 5'9”, MB/OH, Manhattan, ‘27

Manhattan's Depusoir is another multiple-sport athlete on Prep Network's radar. She is currently ranked No. 96 overall at Prep Girls Hoops Kansas. She is not as long and physical as Mills, but she is sneaky quick and hits the ball as hard. She had two kills in the win over Shockwave.

[player_tooltip player_id='446317' first='Clara' last='Morgan'], 5'11”, DS/S, Shawnee Heights, ‘27 (Pictured Above)

Morgan is currently ranked No. 21 in the Kansas Class of 2027. She plays defensive specialist for her club team but is expected to set for her prep team. Her serve has improved since I last saw her. It's a low-line drive that gets on defenders quickly. She finished the match with four digs and four serve receptions.
