The last two days mentioned ten highly talented attackers from around the state. Well, those kids get no love whatsoever without setters like the ones listed below to give them something hittable. Here are five setters from five different clubs that have absolutely dominated this spring.

I keep coming back to Miss Schembra and all that she's done for the last two seasons. As the starter for two seasons at Center Grove, she's got one of the best programs in all of Indiana at her direction. As the lead setter for Circle's top 16s team, she's also directing one of the most potent offenses in the state which is absolutely loaded with firepower. Her athleticism gets her to balls that some can't get to, while her volleyball acuity allows her to know where that ball should go once she gets there. There are plenty of talented setters in this class, but none can do it all like Anabelle does day-in and day-out.

London might have an argument with my statement above. Bigger and more versatile (she attacks in the front row for Carmel during school season), Miss Evans runs another of the top offenses in the state at Munciana. She can get to overpasses that most can't, is more offensive and regularly terminates, and can keep her sets in tempo regardless of where the ball is passed. London's steady rise over the last two full years is no fluke---she's one of the top players in the state, who just so happens to set at a D1 level and has the size to back it up.

Undersized and under appreciated, Emily is a no-nonsense workhorse of a setter that can set any ball in any tempo from anywhere on the court. The in-system offense she runs is one of the fastest I've seen in recent memory, and her hands are quick and deceptive, creating attacking lanes for her hitters. No, there's no flash, no "look at me" attitude. She does her job, and does it at an elite level in every match from the first whistle to the last.

Consistency, consistency, consistency. I think I speak for most coaches when saying that they want consistency out of their setter. With Braelynn, she looks the same approaching every ball, whether it's in- or out-of-system, hard-driven or free ball, to target or off line. Her hands are the same, the tempo is the same and the location is ALWAYS the same. Her hands are in the same location for every ball, creating deception regularly for opposing blockers. If I'm looking for the in-person definition of what a setter should look like, I start with Miss Hodgman.

One of the more fun setters to watch in this age group, Claire is easily the best setter I've seen come out of western Indiana in recent memory. Her ability to turn a nothing pass into a terminable ball is just a regular action for her in the flow of the match. She also does a lot of the little things well---her serves are calculated and accurate, she defends her position well and has the size and volleyball IQ to set a well-constructed block. No, she won't be one of the first setters off of the board once offers start rolling in. But whomever gets her will get a pleasant surprise that will only improve with time and training, and she's already VERY good.
