Nixt is tucked away on a United Premier team that surprised some folks by finishing fourth at the Iowa Regional. It's an important reminder that good players operate on outfits outside of a club's "top" team. Nixt is a key performer for her club and at West Liberty. The sophomore finished third among Comets with 262 digs last season. Nixt is fundamentally sound and a good athlete in the back row. She moves well laterally, gets a good read on the attack and covers a lot of the court. Nixt has a chance to be among the River Valley's standout student-athletes in 2025.

Rude ranked as a pop-up prospect for me this club season. After not scouting Valley during the last prep campaign, I watched her at the Iowa Regional this year. She played a major role in helping Ohana reach the gold bracket. Rude is a quick and athletic back-row baller. Her reading of the attack stands out as does her ability to cover a lot of ground. Rude communicates well with her teammates. As a sophomore in 2024, her 249 digs were the second most among Tigers, just one behind the leader.

I first saw Johnson when she was operating on the Marion team at last season's Benton Tournament. She stood out with her advanced abilities for a sophomore. They led to her 148 digs as a starter in the back row. Johnson showed her volleyball versatility for a formidable United Premier squad by stepping in the setter spot. She shined in that role, which will give the Wolves options with her in 2025.

Phillips has followed up a fine sophomore season at Kennedy by elevating her game even more this club campaign. She ranked second among Cougars in kills (144) and blocks (31.0), so taking a step forward this winter and spring bodes well for her chances at even more success in 2025. Phillips is an athletic middle with long arms and good timing on the block. She reads the attack well, which also helps her defend at the net. Phillips swings with a purpose with room to improve her consistency and power. She'll be an impact player in the MVC this season.

Peters found herself in the Lion rotation as a sophomore last season and held her own against older competition. She contributed 29 kills and 28.0 blocks. Peters has taken a step forward for Adrenaline this club campaign. She's improved her blocking, which already was sound. She utilizes her long arms and good timing to resist the opponent's attack. Peters' attack is primed to do more damage in 2025, when her power and consistency on the swing will be a big plus for Linn-Mar.

Burkhart saw action for an Assumption varsity that featured a lot of seniors last season. The experience will have prepared her for an expected larger role in 2025. So, too, will her work with Platform Elite this club campaign. Burkhart can compete to wear the jersey for the Knights after the graduation losses. Even if she's sharing it or playing DS, she's equipped for success. Burkhart reads the attack well and covers a lot of the court. She shows a good feel for serve-receive and has room to grow in that facet of the game, which is true of younger back-row performers.
