This past weekend, the energy inside the George R. Brown Convention Center was electric as some of the top volleyball talent in the region took the court for the 2025 Lone Star Regionals Tournament. Among the many divisions, the 16 Bid stood out with fierce competition, jaw-dropping rallies, and breakout performances. In Part One of this spotlight series, I'm highlighting five athletes who didn't just show up — they dominated. These girls proved they're not only ready for the next level, but they're also names you'll want to remember.

[player_tooltip player_id='534334' first='Eva' last='Kate Simoncic'] made her presence known in Houston with a standout performance as a left-handed right side hitter. Her dominant net play was a major factor in her team's flawless 4-0 run on day one of the Lone Star Regionals. With towering blocks and powerful swings that kept opponents on their heels, Eva Kate brought both power and consistency to the court, proving to be a key contributor on both sides of the ball.

[player_tooltip player_id='438284' first='Kelly' last='Wright'] turned heads as a dynamic outside hitter with a lethal line shot that consistently found the floor. Despite not having the tallest frame, she plays big at the net, using smart timing and strong technique to put up an impressive block. Her connection with the middle blocker was seamless throughout the weekend, creating a solid wall and helping her team shut down key hitters during critical moments of play.

Marilyn Lindsey is easily one of the most underrated athletes in the 16 Bid division and someone every scout should have on their radar. Her game is marked by poise and quiet dominance — she consistently puts balls down from the 10-foot line with ease, then calmly resets for the next point like it's just business as usual. Her aggressive yet disciplined approach to serve receive rounds out her all-around skill set, making her a reliable and impactful presence on the court.

[player_tooltip player_id='443018' first='Devyn' last='Wilkes'] brought relentless energy and grit to the court all weekend long. Known for her strong serve receive and dependable defense, Devyn is the kind of player who refuses to let a ball drop if she can get a hand on it. Her hustle stood out in every match, and she complemented her backcourt toughness with a solid, high-IQ swing from the outside, making her a true asset in all six rotations.

Melody Coleman impressed with her high volleyball IQ and smart, aggressive play. Her serve put immediate pressure on opponents, and she showed exceptional ability to adjust to any set that came her way. Melody consistently found ways to score, whether by tooling the blockers' hands or slicing sharp cut shots across the court. Her creativity and versatility made her a reliable offensive weapon throughout the tournament.
