The junior right side had somewhat of a slow start, struggling a little bit with her passing and making some offensive errors, but picked back up and was impeccable in the most important moment of the match, having a flawless performance on set five. Simoncic was Taylor’s most-used offensive weapon and led the team in kills with 19, many of which came at the end of the tie-breaker. She took a big responsibility in serve-receive and was solid with it, tallying 20 passes and only three errors. The left-handed Simoncic also registered two blocks, two aces and 11 digs in a strong all-around performance.

The sophomore right side hitter was very strong offensively, making a strong impact in her team’s game at the net. Simoncic mixed things up very well, swinging hard when she had a chance and turning to tips and tooling the block when it wasn’t that simple to put the ball down. Her versatility was another big asset to her team as her ability to hit different sets on the right, the left and even the middle opened up numerous possibilities to her team’s setters. Simoncic also had a solid defensive presence at the net, ending the match with three blocks.

The right side brought a lot of energy and firepower every time she came off the bench and, despite playing just three rotations, made a big offensive impact for Katy Taylor. A lefty, Simoncic displayed tremendous firepower to put the ball down, but was also very intelligent to not force things when the sets weren’t ideal, finding good locations with her tips. She was set very often at the end of sets or key moments and responded well, scoring with good efficiency and making few errors.

Ranked fifth among the right sides and 29th overall, Simoncic plays for Katy Taylor and HJV 15 Elite. A lefty, she has the ability to find nice angles when hitting from the right and is very smart in making her offensive choices to put the ball down. Simoncic has a lot of power in her left arm and is never shy of using it, but she does a very good job of mixing things up and catching defenders off-guard with a tip or a roll shot every now and then. She also has a solid blocking presence, getting off the floor well and always showing great balance to place her arms across the net and take up space from opposing hitters.
