Ohio Class of 2029 'Watch List' Setters

The first 'Watch List" for the 2029 Ohio class is now posted. As these lists are fluid and continue developing as more teams and prospects are viewed, undoubtedly more athletes will be seen, identified, and added going forward. With a lot of attention to 15U and above prospects through each cycle, it is fun to get a glimpse of the rising freshmen class including some we could see competing right away for their high school varsity teams this coming fall season. Here are five setters helping guide their team's offense and overall success.    Sharing the setting role for her BossCLE 14-1 team, Hirsch brings a different look than her counterpart with her size at 5'10. Her developing mechanics include high contact and extension with consistent touch and force. Outside the pocket she has good footwork to give her opportunities to use her hands and momentum to be able to get the ball where she wants in tougher situations. This team recently finished 2nd in the Nike Open 14 Open division.     Holtzapfel has good instincts as a setter while also displaying a fundamental foundation in her transitions from defense to offense in how she prepares and pursues the ball. She keeps her hands simple to be able to get them up early where she can dish all locations with good tempo and accuracy as well as find her opportunities to score on the second contact herself.     This [program_tooltip program_id='431827' first='Elevation' last=''] 14 Case team likes to utilize a high ball offense to the pins, which can be challenging when in combination with quick tempo adjustments needed to incorporate middle hitters. Long does a good job of getting her feet to the ball to be able to adjust her force and extension to create appropriate tempo and time for her pins and middles, while also showing good control with her platform when needed to make the same connections to the left side out of system.     McDavid is a critical piece to her AVC's ability to compete through the high potential offense they bring to each match. Through her opportunities to distribute she showcases good fundamentals and ability to put her hitters into good situations consistently. She prepares well and pursues with good control and force adjustments when on the move off the net or with good athletic plays to get up off the floor to contact when passed tighter to the tape.     Rigo is a standout in this inaugural 2029 reveal of prospects for Ohio. The immediate identification of her size and contact point at the second touch is a rarity right now in this group as her 6'0 frame can create a much different look in this position as well as create advantages in what she can contribute on both sides of the ball.
