Mike Bryant | Prep Dig Scout
As one of the best two-way prospects in this Ohio class, Rigo is part of the ongoing conversation regarding the top of rankings and what shift could potentially be made with future updates among the 2029 list. She has the foundation to develop into an elite prospect going forward. At 6’0, she has the physical frame to set the full rotation with high contact and controlled touch as a setter along with offensive experience to play aggressively and be terminal when at the net. She competes with patience and composure, which allows her to move freely in an efficient manner when pursuing the ball. Mintonette m.51 qualified to the 15 Open division through an at-large allocation from the Show Me NQ. This is one of the richest Ohio clubs regarding history of qualified postseason appearances to the GJNC annually and Rigo’s effort will lead them and their 15U representation and play in June.

Rigo has all the tools to be an elite setter over the full course of her prep career and for the next level. She brings a lot of confidence to the court in how she performs her role physically and the command of her team through her court leadership. She simply makes those around her better on the court. Her composure is steady and her movement to the ball and distribution of tempo and location can look simple and effortless. She and her Mintonette m.51 team recently finished top 10 on a 4-4 overall record at the Windy City NQ in the 15 Open division. They currently hold a 15 National bid to the USAV GJNC.

One of the top 2029 Ohio prospects, Rigo (*pictured) was in good control of her team’s offense on Friday through the 5-1 system they were running. The foundation she has in her skills and in how she distributes the ball is a big part of their effort. She has good size, contacts the ball high, and locates with good tempo and space. This team finished 2-1 on day one.

Rigo is another two-way athlete that has length, a solid skill foundation, and a high ceiling to her game. She can dish with high contact and good control to delivery with tempo and accuracy. Additionally, she can terminate with good purpose with an aggressive arm and a big touch point. As she will likely set a lot during the club season for Mintonette ‘s top 15U team, she led Upper Arlington’s offense at 3.1 k/s on total of 263 kills. Her effort earned her an OCC all-league honor, the only 2029 prospect on either 1st or 2nd team.

Of the setters in attendance on Saturday, Roxy was the only one that made me say, “WOW”. I’m looking at my notes and, sure enough, that’s the first word written. Roxy’s length, strength and set choice makes her a prime D1 candidate for recruitment, and does everything well that a setter should do, including taking the ball over on the second contact. Her defense is exceptional—-both for her position and for her age. Her length, on more than one occasion, helped to keep a play alive; tight passes, out-of-system play, blocking and floor defense all saw an uptick in skill when Roxy was on the floor. I liked this kid a lot, which is why I picked her as one of the Top Performers for the entire Exposure Tour in Columbus.

Rigo is the offensive leader for an Upper Arlington team that is 12-4 overall. At 3.1 k/s, she makes the switch from being a primary setter during the club season for one of the top teams in Ohio in her age group to using her length and arm on the other end of that distribution. This team features other very capable setters, which is a testament to Rigo’s skill set to be able to pivot to being a primary arm and finding success. She was third in the poll at just over 16% of the vote.

Her opening effort for Upper Arlington included repeat performances of 12 kills to lead her team to consecutive 2-1 wins over both Grove City and Marysville.

Rigo is a standout in this inaugural 2029 reveal of prospects for Ohio. The immediate identification of her size and contact point at the second touch is a rarity right now in this group as her 6’0 frame can create a much different look in this position as well as create advantages in what she can contribute on both sides of the ball. She plays with good composure and represents the Mintonette setter development and role well.
