Washburn University hosted the second day of the MOKAN Tournament on June 21.

I went over and scouted one match before taking my wife out for a weekend lunch.

I scouted the Spearville and Chaparral match, opening their respective days in Pool Play. I previewed this match earlier in the week, as one I wanted to scout.

Here is a look at four prospects from Chaparral, including a top-ranked prospect in the Class of 2028.

[player_tooltip player_id='511942' first='Makiya' last='Maka'], 5'9”, OH, Chaparral, '28

Maka is ranked No. 3 overall in the Kansas Class of 2026. She was a stat monster as a freshman and has participated in Prep Dig Showcases. This was the first time I saw her play with her prep team. She did not have a great hitting day, but played noticeable defense for the Roadrunners. She finished the match with two kills, seven serve receptions, and three digs. She is a natural athlete and is the leader on this squad as just a sophomore.

[player_tooltip player_id='730725' first='Emily' last='Harding'], 5'8”, S, Chaparral, '26

The Roadrunners struggled as a team against Spearville and were out of system more than they were in it. Harding still showed the type of setting skills that could play at the collegiate level. She is also a softball player who pitches and plays shortstop. She had two assists and three digs in the opening match at the MOKAN tournament.

[player_tooltip player_id='785572' first='Jaylin' last='Easter'], 5'8”, OH/DS, Chaparral, '27

Chaparral has a group of juniors who are versatile and can play multiple positions. Easter is among that group. She finished with two digs and three serve receptions in the match. She and three other juniors are pretty much interchangeable in the back row.

[player_tooltip player_id='785571' first='Lexi' last='Goebel'], 5'7”, DS, Chaparral, '27

Geobel is another solid junior prospect on the Roadrunner roster. She finished the match against Spearville with two digs and three serve receptions. She has a nice platform and communicates well with her teammates. Profiles have been created for her and Easter. Both could turn out to be solid prospects for NAIA schools.
