In the last four seasons, the Southwood Knights have compiled a 125-15 record, making the semi state round in two different classes each of the last four seasons. The Knights are always among the elite in girls volleyball, so much so that they haven't dropped a conference match since 2020. Looking for their second title in two different classes in three seasons is no small task, and it will take every last bit of energy from this group to get to the promised land. Here is my preview and prediction of the Southwood Knights.

The lone loss last fall came in the semi state in five sets to eventual 2A champ Western Boone. Heartbreaking, for sure, but knowing the level of youth that these Knights were playing with made that match all the more predictive of their character. Graduating a D2 setter might be tough to replace, but the majority return for what might be another 30+-win season. Led by Kentucky commit [player_tooltip player_id='494521' first='Shania' last='Rhamy'], the Knights are in good hands on offense. Shania is an exceptional passer, with explosive movements for days on the attack. As a Munciana kid, you'd expect nothing less. She'll have a ton of help on offense among junior pin attacker Hali Pershing and senior middle Mylah Dillon. Hali is a three-sport athlete that uses her athleticism and high-end conditioning to wear down opponents, while Mylah is a tough middle whose defense will be much needed for a deep run in the playoffs. One part of the 6-2 returns in junior Adi Deaton, a solid and consistent setter who can be deceptive at times. Yet another junior has the best chance of being the libero in [player_tooltip player_id='807071' first='Presley' last='Kroft']. In short, this is a junior-heavy team that can play and win at the highest level, and should do so through '26 as well.

Prediction: Western Boone graduated their best two attackers. Is it time for the Knights to shine?

Shania, and the rest of her teammates, are relentless. There are multiple match videos I've watched of this team, with the victory already in hand, never taking their foot off of the gas until the end. That relentlessness is what wins championships. Yorktown plays this way in 4A, Trinity Lutheran does it in 1A. Should it be any different for this squad? In each of the last three seasons, the Knights have either won the state title or lost in the semi state to the eventual state champ. This is a dynasty in the making, and to have your name included among the blue-bloods of girls volleyball here in Indiana, multiple titles matter. Cathedral, Yorktown, Burris, Roncalli, HSE, Providence---all of those programs have won multiple titles because of their relentlessness. This is one of those rosters that has the tools and the talent to win the whole thing and be counted among the elite.
