Welcome to the spotlight, Class of 2029.

We've reached that time of year when a new class joins the high school ranks and gets incorporated into our coverage. This year's group of freshmen comes from the Class of 2029, which primarily occupied the 14U age group during the club season.

Finishing Strong

Naturally, we have our eye on the select few squads that ended their 2025 campaign at USAV Nationals or AAU Nationals.

Our first team in the spotlight has to be Premier Nebraska 14 Gold, which made a podium ascent in GJNC's 14 National division. 14 Gold had a strong Open-level campaign on the regional and national circuit, culminating in a top-five finish at Kansas City's Show Me Qualifier. The team found even more success once its GJNC bid was secured, and Dallas revealed the bright future for several Omaha-area 2029s. 14 Gold's third-place finish has us looking forward to covering the team's athletes in the fall and beyond.

Premier Nebraska racked up many more accolades through its other 14U entries. Premier Nebraska 14 Black built off its top-five placement at Show Me and competed in the 14 USA field in Dallas. Similarly, Premier Nebraska 14 Red swiped a 14 Liberty bid and achieved its best results after the season's midpoint. We round everything about by giving a nod to Premier Nebraska 14 Silver's top-ten placement in the 14 American division.

[program_tooltip program_id='428717' first='Nebraska' last='ONE'] 14 Kasai joined the GJNC festivities in 14 Freedom. This talented group nearly clinched a 14 American bid through a Show Me Qualifier championship in a field of nearly 100 teams. That podium placement was the perfect prelude to 14 Kasai's postseason journey, and we have a new wave of Lincoln-area stars to track.

Let's pivot to AAU Nationals, where we're about to make a couple more trips to the podium.

Club Legacy is back at it again. Club Legacy 14 Alpha ascended to the championship match in 14 Club and amassed an incredible 13-1 record at AAUs. This club's success has transcended age groups, with multiple Club Legacy 16s teams making Gold bracket runs and 15 Alpha winning a division championship in Kansas City. Now, we have a new wave of 14s to watch after a runner-up finish in Orlando.

Nebraska's other podium placer at AAUs was [program_tooltip program_id='428728' first='River' last='City Jrs'] 14 Navy. This squad roared through the regional circuit in early-season action, setting up another big triumph at year's end. 14 Navy did not drop a set until the 14 Select semifinals--a common theme from River City's top AAU contenders.

We might as well bring Club Legacy back into the discussion after Club Legacy 14 Bravo's Gold bracket finish in the 14 Spirit division. Depth is building quickly in this gym, giving us multiple teams to follow in every age group.

AAU Nationals was also our look at the future gems at Nebraska Elite. Nebraska Elite 14 Koa aimed high in the 14 Open division, accelerating the team's development against the nation's best. We also got a winning AAU record out of Nebraska Elite 14 Lokahi in the 14 Elite field.

The List Goes On

Nebraska's 14U notables extend far beyond Nationals.

What about [program_tooltip program_id='428743' first='VCNebraska' last='']? Our Midwest Power League visits have given us a brief look at [program_tooltip program_id='428743' first='VCNebraska' last=''] 14 Elite, and this squad has the exact mold we'd expect from a star-studded lineup at this club. A quick offense and high-flying pin hitters will define 14 Elite's future.

Don't forget about the small-town underdogs! South Central NE 14 Black had several successful forays through regional tournaments and brought the next wave of hidden gems to our attention. Other age groups have set a high bar, but 14 Black could be the next trendsetter.

Finally, we're keeping tabs on Banzai VBC 14 Select, particularly after the team's St. Louis visit for the Mideast Qualifier. Banzai VBC has churned out some impressive results at Great Plains Region Bid Tournaments over the past couple of years, opening an avenue for postseason breakthroughs in future seasons.
