We've seen VCN triumph at venues like NLQ, NEQ, Big South, and beyond. Some of these squads have stacked multiple bids. So, we couldn't be surprised to see VCNebraska 15 Elite join the action in Kansas City.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The 15s age group is often characterized by wild momentum swings and unpredictable results. Consistency is rare. These facts make VCN 15 Elite's unbeaten run in Kansas City even more impressive.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>We have more VCNebraska representation for the Nebraska Bid Tracker--as if we didn't have enough already!</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline">Running the Table</span></strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>VCNebraska 15 Elite may have stayed out of the loss column throughout its Kansas City stay, but this feat didn't come easily.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Saturday's opening round was highlighted by a 17-15 win in the third set over Top Flight, locking up a 3-0 start and an outright pool victory. However, this was just a taste of what was to come the following day.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>15 Elite appeared bound and determined to play as much Sunday volleyball as possible. Matches against Cincy East, NPJ Portland, and No Coast all went the distance in three-set tiebreakers. And, every time, VCNebraska pulled ahead to claim Set 3 and keep its perfect record alive.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>These narrow triumphs came with an incredibly worthwhile reward for Monday's Gold bracket. 15 Elite received an opening-round bye, placing it directly in the division's quarterfinal round. VCNebraska would only need to win Monday's first match to reach immediate bid contention.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>And, of course, it had to come in a three-set decision. 15 Elite's big bracket breakthrough came with a tiebreaker win over CSDP, sending the Great Plains crew to the semifinals. Two of the four teams in this round were already qualified, so 15 Elite's bid was in hand.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>But why stop there? VCNebraska kept the good times rolling by sweeping Dallas Skyline to reach the championship. VCNebraska has had a considerable pull outside the confines of Lancaster County, and that trend continues with the 15 Elite roster. We're immediately drawn to Ellison Payne, a terminal pin hitter from Grand Island Northwest. The Vikings weren't afraid to deploy their high-flying freshman, who produced three kills per set in her debut season. Payne produced a multi-pin impact in Kansas City and was particularly effective in first-ball situations on the left side.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>15 Elite gets more rural influence from athletes like [player_tooltip player_id='932964' first='Brooke' last='Bosshamer'], [player_tooltip player_id='933037' first='Charlee' last='O'Bannon'], and [player_tooltip player_id='849515' first='Tenley' last='Kozisek']. Bosshamer rocketed to prominence before the club season began, helping her Amherst High School squad win a historic state title. This physical middle blocker puts up a wall at the net and has found her stride as a go-to in-system terminator. She has also demonstrated her versatility at the opposite position, giving 15 Elite plenty of options for the lineup card.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>O'Bannon is building off a 100-plus-kill campaign with Crete last fall, and she often helps fortify 15 Elite's right pin alongside Bosshamer. Her ball control is also an asset, as O'Bannon can lock down the middle-back area if needed. This is one of 15 Elite's many "wildcard" contributors.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Crete stays in the conversation a little longer. Kozisek has flourished in the VCNebraska gym and can play around the dial at the outside hitter spot. Even if she's not in the front row, Kozisek's Zone 6 prowess makes her a mainstay in the 15 Elite starting rotation.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Now, we'll take our scheduled tour of the capital city. We can approach from the south to find [player_tooltip player_id='933038' first='Maia' last='Wiles'], a Norris freshman who adds to VCNebraska's extraordinary pin depth in the Class of 2029. Wiles typically operates on the right side, where her explosive approach and excellent court vision can shine. She has meshed well with [player_tooltip player_id='933036' first='Vivian' last='Stokes'], a Lincoln Southeast standout who can contribute to the ball control phase by any means necessary. Perrine is the left-side attacker you can't miss in this lineup. Her burst off the floor was nearly unrivaled in KC's 15 USA division, and VCNebraska took full advantage of that athleticism.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>LPS representation expands with [player_tooltip player_id='933035' first='Adalynn' last='Fullerton'] operating in the middle. The Lincoln East freshman has expanded her range during 15 Elite's challenging early-season slate. She is lethal in front of the setter and can even run combination plays in three-hitter rotations.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>While we're at the middle blocker spot, we can take an Omaha detour to bring up Skutt Catholic's [player_tooltip player_id='891815' first='Brynlee' last='Harrill']. 15 Elite makes full use of Harrill's quick arm during her trips across the front row. VCNebraska has a history of wielding liberos outside of their native age groups. That's the case with Haley Nunes, a freshman-to-be who anchors 15 Elite's floor defense in the contrasting jersey. She plays with the instinct and vision that go far beyond her years.
