Lexington United 15, 55 Black Seasons in Review

This is a review of the seasons from the 15U group.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>15</strong> <strong>Black</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>This team had its struggles, but finished strong finishing 17th out of 40 teams in the 15 Club Division of the Naptown Jamobree.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Sydney Bumgardner, Bella Davidson and Tasha Means starting things off with good first touches and Amanda Walls set up the hitters. Breathitt County middle blocker [player_tooltip player_id='811856' first='Brinsley' last='Neace'] and Caroline Meeker did some nice things in the middle with Jade Lovell and Kathryn Alexander providing offense from the outside. Ashton Fister and Stella Patton gave the team a spark from the right side.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Beckie Sterlitz served as the team's head coach.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>55 Black</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>This team put together a respectable 30-23 season, finishing runner-up in the 15 Girls Division of the LUV Snowman Classic and MLK Remembrance and the 15s Division of the Presidents' Day Grand Prix.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Rowan County sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='697081' first='Ella' last='Breeze'] headlined this group taking strong swings from the outside. Breeze had a monster season for the Valkyries as a freshman and looks to become even more dominant as a sophomore.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Two sisters from East Jessamine contributed to this team in sophomore outside hitter [player_tooltip player_id='762100' first='Abby' last='Lawson'] and freshman libero/defensive specialist [player_tooltip player_id='797203' first='Molly' last='Lawson']. [player_tooltip player_id='762100' first='Abby' last='Lawson'] served as a setter on this team.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Dunbar sophomore Ayn Chung along with Madison Lowe and Macey Nichols played either defensive specialist or libero. Lawson mixed up her sets well and made solid passes to start the offense. Breeze has nice ball control, putting them off blockers and away from defensive specialists for big points. Her sound connection with Rowan County's talented setter [player_tooltip player_id='253881' first='Mallory' last='Jones'] more than helps there. Breeze has a good platform to make good first passes and start up the offense. Neace has good form, taking good swings on ones and back sets in the middle. Neace has shown the ability to time up and block sound hitters. Neace is not afraid to step back from the net and deliver softer hits to shallow parts of the court. She tips balls to the shallow sidelines if they are open. Lawson readies herself to do both bump and overhead first touches. Lawson moves well trying to beat the ball to the spot on the floor.
