[player_tooltip player_id='781110' first='Addison' last='Swaney'] brought a spark of energy from the moment she walked in the gym. It did not matter if she was on the court, waiting in line, on a water break, or cheering on her team, she was relentless with her positivity. I noticed her right from the start of the showcase, even during warmups she never missed covering her hitters, talking about seams, introducing herself to new people, high-fiving everyone on the court. She was an energizer, a leader, and the kind of player who could bring a smile to your face one minute, and run down one of the toughest balls on defense the next.

Not only was she relentelessly positive in everything she did, she had an ease and confidence around playing with new athletes, something that can be incredibly challenging to do, especially as an incoming freshman. She gave everything she had to every single point, playing every point from warm ups to the very last scrimmage point like she were playing for a national championship point.

As a libero and defensive specialist Addison was dynamic and fast. Her effort on scramble plays inspired others to be aggressive around her. She served aggressive, was a fearless defender, and a disciplined teammate. She was always ready in coverage - I never once saw her forget. And she always went the extra mile to make sure that players were hyped up for their efforts, even if they didn't get the point. To say I was impressed by Addison would be an understatement. Her intangibles were some of the strongest I have seen in an incoming freshman, and her physical talent was strong as well.

Her passion for the game was evident - and it was an incredible reminder that even through all the grit and work and effort that these athletes put in when no one is looking, that the fun and love for the game is still there. Addison perfectly embodied the sportsmanship, leadership, and relentless work ethic that the Avoli Committed series showcases.
