Built Different: Sophomore ID Camp's Most Relentless Competitors

The athletes at the Sophomore ID Camp absolutely blew me away with their competitiveness and grit. They stopped at nothing to pursue the ball, earn points, and keep the ball alive. Let's look at some of the athletes at the Sophomore ID Camp whose grit, tenacity, and hustle are just built different!    Naomi was an incredibly hard working pin on the court. Not only was she constantly mixing up her swings, but she was also listening to her teammates call out block seams and and shots. She utilized every resource, including her team, to better her game and that of those around her. Naomi was a new athlete on my radar who stopped at nothing from an offensive and defensive standpoint and was truly impressive in her play.     Addison is an absolute menace in the back row, and I mean that in the most positive way possible. She has no fear, no matter how fast the ball is coming at her. Her ability to keep the ball alive was just amazing. We often talk about hitters having shots in their tool box, well Addison knows nearly every defensive movement in the book and how to handle any situation. Her tool box runs deep and it allows her to react that much quicker and be that much more versatile in the back row. What anchors her talent is her great fundamentals and sheer determination, effort, and grit.     Aldyn brought so much hustle to every drill. The word "help" did not seem to be in her vocabulary. And even when she was running down the toughest balls, she was able to better the play for her team. I was very impressed with Aldyn's consistent ability to control the pace of the game in a clean and efficient way while still playing with massive hustle and grit. She is a setter who could quickly identify strategic sets on the court and execute them seamlessly. She also was aggressive on defense.     Mya was a hugely competitive rightside hitter who could not be stopped. She made every set work to her advantage. Her ability to turn broken plays into points was something that you just don't see often, especially from a player who has never played with the athletes on the court with them. Mya impressed from start to finish. She took numerous swings on both pins and was able to hit a rainbow of shots across the court. She had great control on the placement and speed of the ball. Mya was a huge contributor with her block as well and never backed down at the net.     Brooklyn was non-stop effort and grit as both a setter and right side. She first caught my eye with her stellar defense, court awareness, and all-around play during warm ups. Brooklyn fought for every point, from warm ups through scrimmage play. She was a consistent force as a setter, feeding hitters and picking up a lot of balls in defense. I felt like everytime I was on Brooklyn's court, I saw new aspects of her game that made her even more dynamic as a player and teammate. She has a massive amount of potential and is a player that makes a huge difference everytime she is on the court.
